As it stands, we know that the X-Men will be coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe sooner or later, but it remains to be seen when the mutant group will arrive. Marvel boss Kevin Feige has confirmed that there are tentative plans to reimagine the X-Men for the MCU, but there are no official movies anywhere on the release schedule at this time. With that said, the characters could potentially pop up at any time elsewhere in the MCU, and it’s always possible that an X-Men movie or Disney+ series could be announced.

In any case, there will be different names volunteered for certain roles until official casting announcements are made. Singer and actress Chloe Bailey, who’s one half of Chloe x Halle alongside sister Halle Bailey, recently suited up as Storm for Halloween. Doing so attracted a lot of attention online with even previous Storm actress Halle Berry noting that “she’s taking it.”

Speaking with Variety, Chloe Bailey commented on her Storm costume. She explained how that’s her favorite superhero character, and when asked if this was her way of campaigning for the role, she suggested that it’s easy to “fill in the blanks” here, meaning that idea isn’t too far off. As Bailey says:

Chloe’s sister, Halle Bailey, is also a big fan of storm. She previously told Variety in a D23 interview that she’d be up for any Marvel superhero, though she happened to specifically name Storm as someone she’d love to play. As Bailey said at the time:

Time will tell if Halle Bailey makes her way to the MCU, but she will first become a part of Disney history with her debut in the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. Directed by Rob Marshall, the film introduces Bailey as a reimagined Ariel as part of a cast that also includes Jonah Hauer-King, Art Malik, Javier Bardem, Daveed Diggs, and Melissa McCarthy. Despite some social media criticism over reimagining the fictional mermaid with a different skin color, Bailey’s performance has drawn very high praise from everyone who’s gotten to see a sneak peek. A teaser trailer showcased Bailey’s singing skills as the new Ariel, assuaging many doubts about her casting in the role.

The Little Mermaid will be released in movie theaters on May 26, 2023.
