Recent documents reveal that Chloe Cherry, also known by the name of Elise Jones, has been charged with shoplifting in her hometown of Willow Brook, PA, situated in Lancaster County. According to reports, the actress stole a $28 blouse from a local store, ‘Jenny & the Clowder’ in downtown Lancaster back in December, and she has since been charged with a retail theft misdemeanor.
Cherry, who previously appeared in adult films, is now best known for her role as Faye in the second season of HBO’s Euphoria, which already has a season 3 in the works. Lancaster Online first reported on the incident, saying that according to one of the shopping center’s employees, police surveillance footage show Cherry taking a $28 dollar, on-sale blouse into a dressing room on December 27th. Cherry was not seen leaving with the blouse, and it was not left in the dressing room. According to the complaint filed, Cherry paid for other items using a credit card and when questioned by police, admitted to taking the blouse and returned it to the officer. Cherry’s rep addressed the incident, completely discrediting the previous source’s recount and giving a very different version of what happened. Cherry’s rep spoke to TMZ saying,
However, the store owner Marty Hulse and the store’s general manager, Joel Henry, told Lancaster Online that they were unaware of Cherry’s status or affiliation with HBO until Cherry’s mother informed them that her daughter was an actress when they reached her in regard to the incident. Police note that this is not the first time that Cherry has faced a shoplifting accusation. The Euphoria actress was convicted of retail theft in April 2015. One might question whether a charge is really worth it considering the retail value of $28, but Hulse says,
Elise Jones, aka Chloe Cherry, is scheduled for her preliminary hearing on March 1st. In any case, Cherry certainly isn’t the first celebrity charged with shoplifting, although $28 does seem like a record low.
