It’s a good time to be Chris Evans, as the actor is considered by People to be the “Sexiest Man Alive” for the year 2022. Of the honor, Evans says the news would have made his child self “pumped.” He also says he’s sure that his mother will appreciate this more than anyone, and he foresees her taking advantage of the bragging rights that come with her son becoming the “Sexiest Man Alive.”

“My mom will be so happy,” the Knives Out actor said. “She’s proud of everything I do but this is something she can really brag about.”

But for her part, Evan’s mother Lisa says this is no shocker, also telling the magazine, “I am not surprised at all. Our family will be beside themselves.”

Evans admits that it’s hard to speak about the title, as it feels like a “weird form of humble bragging.” He even expects that this will just lead to bullying and harassment. With that said, he is still happy for the honor, feeling lucky to just have been involved in the conversation. Evans also believes that he’s going to look back at this moment one day and feel much more proud about it.

“It’s something that as I become old and saggy I can look back on and say ‘I remember then…’” Evans said.

This is the first time Chris Evans has taken the “Sexiest Man Alive” title. It follows his MCU co-star Paul Rudd getting the nod last year, while it was Chris Hemsworth in 2014. Some of the other names to be declared “Sexiest Man Alive” over the past several years include Michael B. Jordan, John Legend, Idris Elba, Blake Shelton, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Evans has seemingly retired from playing Steve Rogers in the MCU, but fans will be able to keep following the actor with many other projects. Recently, he co-starred with Ryan Gosling in the Netflix movie The Gray Man which was directed by the Russo Brothers. Evans also provided the voice of Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story spinoff Lightyear and had a cameo in the Netflix comedy Don’t Look Up.

Just recently, new set images were also leaked of Evans in the upcoming Christmas movie Red One with The Rock. The actor will also appear in Pain Hustlers with Emily Blunt as well as Ghosted with Ana de Armas. He also has a Little Shop of Horrors remake in the planning stages that he’s trying to get back on track.
