It hasn’t been the birthday Jeremy Renner thought he’d be having when he turned 52, but even while recovering in a hospital bed, the actor is getting a lot of love and birthday wishes from friends and fans. Among them is actor Chris Evans, who appeared with Renner in the Avengers movies. Taking to his Instagram Stories, Evans shared an image of himself with Renner along with a message wishing his pal a happy birthday.
“Happy birthday to one of the toughest guys I know! Sending so much love your way,” the message reads.
After Renner was hospitalized, Evans had also been among the Marvel stars wishing him a speedy recovery. Other Marvel stars to get involved include Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pratt, Taika Waititi, Josh Brolin, and the Russo Brothers. Evans’ post at the time stated, “Tough as nails. Love you buddy.”

It’s been wonderful news for fans to see Renner improving with his continued recovery. Things looked grim in the immediate aftermath of the accident. At first, it had only been reported that Renner was involved in a “weather-related” incident that had him airlifted to the hospital. His condition was reported as stable but critical, and it was later revealed that he had to undergo emergency surgery after suffering extensive injuries. Fans from all over the world united to send support his way, and that has helped Renner’s spirits stay high as he recovers.
“Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve, and the Carano and Murdock families,” a statement from Renner’s rep announced shortly after the accident. “They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”
The accident came about a week ahead of Renner’s birthday and about two weeks before the actor’s return to the small screen. He stars in the Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown, which will premiere its second season on Jan. 15.
