While there are very few people who do not know who Chris Pratt is now, but back when the Jurassic World star was looking for his big movie break he auditioned for roles in J.J. Abrams Star Trek and James Cameron’s Avatar. Pratt recently recalled these failed auditions while speaking to Smartless podcast. Although he has certainly earned his place in Hollywood now, at the time, he didn’t feel like he was really doing all he could to get big roles, including looking after himself physically. He explained:
“I know I’ve made light of actors feeling rejection or whatever, but I didn’t come close [to getting the role]. In fact I came, it was so not close that it was really demoralizing and made me actually truly question my potential or what I should be aiming for as an actor. For both of those. I remember that the role was written like ‘He comes in,’ it was maybe the Avatar. . .I just remember reading this character description and it was like ‘he walks in and he has the it factor.’ So I was feeling, you know, a little bit overweight, I wasn’t really taking care of myself physically, I was in a relationship where we were, you know, drinking a lot. I walked in, and I started sweating immediately, and it was a casting assistant. She just looked at me and she just pressed record and she just started doing her stuff while I was reading with her other casting assistant. I saw that there was literally nothing about my audition that was compelling at all.”
Chris Pratt Will Soon Be Lending His Voice To Two Legendary Animated Characters
While Chris Pratt has been recently involved in big blockbuster movies like Jurassic World: Dominion and Thor: Love and Thunder, as well as the upcoming Prime Video thriller series The Terminal List, Pratt will soon be returning to voice over work to bring two iconic animated characters to life in new movies.
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
Having previously provided his voice in The LEGO Movie and its sequel, Pratt will be bringing a new update to classic Nintendo video game character Mario in Illumination’s Super Mario Bros. movie which is set to be released Easter 2023. While there has been a lot of controversy over the casting of American Pratt in the role of the famous Italian plumber, both the actor and Illumination’s CEO have spent a lot of time attempting to quash the constant barrage of social media complaints about the casting.
In a much less controversial role, Pratt will follow in the footsteps of Lorenzo Music and Bill Murray as the latest voice behind lasagne-loving cat Garfield in an animated reboot that will see Pratt’s fellow MCU alum Samuel L. Jackson joining him in a brand new adventure for the Jim Davis creation. While there has not been much more information released about the movie at this time, it has set a cinematic release date of Nov. 22, 2023.
