Fright Night star Chris Sarandon has returned to the role of his vampire character from the iconic horror film. While no new movie is in the works, writer-director Tom Holland was penned an all-new novel set in the Fright Night universe. Intended to start a new trilogy of stories, the novel, Fright Night: Origins, includes characters and references that expand upon the lore of the film. The book has now been given a new audio version at Audible narrated by Sarandon, and as part of the job, this includes voicing Jerry Dandridge for the scenes featuring the vampire.
Holland shared a video on Twitter of Sarandon announcing the news. The director says he’s “beyond excited Chris did this for the Fright Night fans, and given the response, it’s clear that the horror fans are happy as well.

Fright Night: Origins Tells a New Story in the Original Fright Night World
Released in 1985, Fright Night follows teenager Charley Brewster (William Ragsdale) as he learns that his neighbor, Jerry Dandridge (Chris Sarandon), is a bloodthirsty vampire. It’s up to Charley to take on the vampire, and to get an upper hand, he enlists the help Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall), an actor who played vampire hunters on television. The film was a hit at the box office and has since become a cult classic, highly regarded as one of cinema history’s greatest vampire films.
Fright Night was given a sequel, Fright Night Part 2, in 1988. The franchise was rebooted with a remake in 2011 which had its own sequel, 2013’s Fright Night 2: New Blood.
