Christian group, Return to Order, launched a petition for Netflix to cancel Good Omens over the “blasphemous” material. One fan alerted Neil Gaiman, who co-wrote the source material and every episode of the miniseries, and the author said, “This is so beautiful… Promise me you won’t tell them?” Gaiman co-wrote the 1990 book with Terry Pratchett and they had planned on bringing it to the screen for a number of years before it ended up happening. Pratchett sadly passed away in 2015 at the age of 66.

Return to Order says Good Omens is, “Another step to make satanism appear normal, light and acceptable” and that it “mocks God’s wisdom.” The group has also taken issue with a female portraying the voice of God. In the miniseries, Frances McDormand takes on the voice and a lot of Christians are not happy about the decision. Return to Order went on and had this to say.
“This type of video makes light of Truth, Error, Good and Evil, and destroys the barriers of horror that society still has for the devil.”
