As promised, Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox have come forth with an announcement on Back to the Future. The two stars of the movie trilogy had previously been teasing something coming leading up to the news. This had some fans wondering whether there was a new movie, documentary, special reunion, or anything else that could have involved the Back to the Future stars. After first posting images of themselves together, Lloyd and Fox shared to social media a teaser video featuring the DeLorean and lots of neon colors.
The video only notes that something is “coming soon,” but the post includes a link to BacktotheFuture.shop, suggesting a new webstore is on the way. As of now, the website only features a message that reads, “We’re Almost OUTATIME.” There is also an option for fans to enter an email address to be notified of updates on the shop as they become available. While this seems to be promoting a soon-to-open webstore, some fans are now guessing this could be a reveal for Back to the Future NFTs. In any case, you can see the posts below.
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
This announcement was first teased with a cryptic post from Lloyd on Twitter. He referenced “the future,” but at the time, left no other details beyond that some big news was coming. He followed that up by noting, “Great Scott! Stay tuned!” That had fans guessing that the news was Back to the Future related, possibly involving a reboot or legacy sequel to the movie trilogy. He later confirmed that the tease was something to do with Marty and Doc as he posted a photo of himself with Fox with another subtle clue.
“If my calculations are correct, when this news hits 88mph…you’re gonna see some serious sh*t,” Lloyd said, pointing to Fox’s Instagram account where another tease was posted.
“Doc and I are up to something heavy… should we spill it?” Fox wrote.

No, Back to the Future 4 Isn’t Happening
Universal Pictures
For better or for worse, the big announcement was not the reveal of a Back to the Future sequel or reboot. Many fans had been hoping that this would be the case, feeling that the movie series is perfect as it is and should not be tainted with any attempts to reimagine them. Producer Bob Gale and director Robert Zemeckis have both been long insistent that the series shouldn’t get any new movies, and because their permission is required for a new film to be made, we most likely won’t see another installment anytime soon.
But there will still be plenty there for the fans, as we are seeing with this new reveal for the webstore or whatever this thing turns out to be. The stars of the film also reunite on occasion to the delight of fans who are always happy to see them together. Back to the Future 4 may not ever be, but the movies will live on forever.
