Roseanne star Christopher Lloyd is making his way to The Conners. While he did not appear in the original Roseanne series in the 1990s, Lloyd made his debut in the series when it was revived for a 10th season on ABC in 2018. He played the character Lou, the boyfriend of Roseanne (Roseanne Barr) and Jackie’s (Laurie Metcalf) mother Beverly (Estelle Parsons). Lloyd hadn’t been seen on the series since it changed its name to The Conners following Roseanne’s exit, but that changes next month.

Per Deadline, Lloyd reprises his role as Lou in the May 4 episode of The Conners, titled “The Best Laid Plans, A Contrabassoon and A Sinking Feeling.” In the episode, Darlene (Sara Gilbert) “makes a life-changing decision)” after doing some serious reflection following an accident. For his part, Lloyd’s Lou comes in as Mark’s (Ames McNamara) contrabassoon teacher, but “after he butts heads with Mark, Dan (John Goodman) steps in, only to realize that their similarities may outweigh their differences.”

The Conners was conceived as a Roseanne revival and first aired on ABC in 2018. It was a huge hit for the network, but the future of the new Roseanne seemed to be in peril when Roseanne Barr was fired for comments she had made on Twitter. The decision was made to move forward with a spinoff series featuring the rest of the cast, and it was explained in the first episode that Barr’s character had been killed off. Even without the show’s former lead star, The Conners has proven to become a big success in its own right.

Christopher Lloyd Has Been Lining Up Other Roles

Just recently, it was announced that Christopher Lloyd and Rachel Leigh Cook had shot a new movie set in a Spirit Halloween store. It’s planned to release later this year, perhaps in time for the Halloween holiday season. That news came after reports that Lloyd had also picked up a guest spot in the upcoming third season of The Mandalorian on Disney+. No details were revealed about the character he will reportedly play, but his involvement alone has gotten many fans of the veteran actors pretty excited.

Last year, Lloyd appeared in several feature films, including the acclaimed action movie Nobody with Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk. He also had roles in the films Senior Moment, Queen Bees, and The Tender Bar, as well as the TV movie Next Stop, Christmas. In recent years, the actor has also had guest spots on other shows like NCIS, The Big Bang Theory, and 12 Monkeys. Lloyd was also featured as a live-action version of the mad scientist Rick in a handful of Rick & Morty promos released by Adult Swim with Jaeden Martell playing the live-action Morty. Some fans were hoping to see a longer live-action adaptation of Rick & Morty as a result.

The Conners airs on Wednesday nights on ABC. You can catch Lloyd’s appearance when his episode airs on May 4, 2022.
