The final season of The CW’s hit series The Flash is just around the corner, and fans are eagerly awaiting the return of some familiar faces to help bid farewell to the beloved show. While it was previously announced that Stephen Amell, David Ramsey, and Keiynan Lonsdale would all be returning to the series, the fate of fan-favorite character Cisco Ramon, played by Carlos Valdes, remains uncertain. Cisco Ramon was a series regular from the show’s inception in 2014 until he departed a few seasons ago. He was last seen in The Flash’s Season 7 finale, officiating Barry and Iris’ vow renewal. Since then, the character has become the Director of Technology and Science for A.R.G.U.S. and lives in Star City.

During the Television Critics Association panel (via TVLine) for Hulu’s upcoming series Up Here, Valdes was asked about his potential return to The Flash. Unfortunately, the actor stated that he did not know if he would make an appearance in the final season. However, when someone suggested Cisco could make an appearance via FaceTime, Valdes thought that would be a pitch-worthy idea. Despite this, Valdes also stated that it wasn’t likely that the series would end without Cisco somehow factoring in.

It’s a bittersweet moment for fans of the show as the final season is approaching, but it’s also a time for celebration as the show is going out with a bang with the return of some of the most beloved characters. The Flash has been a staple in the Arrowverse, and fans look forward to seeing how the story ends and how all the characters will be tied together. It’s worth noting that the return of Carlos Valdes’ Cisco Ramon, although uncertain, would be a cherry on top.

“I can’t imagine a scenario [without Cisco returning],” Carlos Valdes admitted.

The Flash will pick up with the DC superhero one week after defeating the Reverse Flash once and for all. Fans can expect to see Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton) reconnecting and growing closer than ever before. But just as things start to look bright for our hero, a deadly group of Rogues descends on Central City, led by a powerful new threat. The Flash and his team, which includes Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), Cecile Horton (Danielle Nicolet), Allegra Garcia (Kayla Compton), Chester P. Runk (Brandon McKnight), and Mark Blaine (Jon Cor), will have to defy impossible odds once again to save the day.

The showrunner of The Flash, Eric Wallace, stated that as soon as the final season was announced, the team knew they wanted Amell back to reprise his role as Oliver Queen. He added that Oliver was the one who initially launched Barry Allen on his heroic path, and it was essential for them to create a full-circle moment with Oliver’s return in the final season of The Flash. He promised that the episode would be an epic-yet-emotional one and that the team Flash wants to say “thank you” to the fans for watching and supporting the show throughout the nine years and that they hope the fans will enjoy it.

The Flash Season 9 is set to premiere on Feb. 8, and it’s expected to be the final adventure set within The CW’s Arrowverse.
