It’s going to be a little while before we see John Wick: Chapter 4, but one of its actors has provided a small tease of what’s to come. As has been reported, Clancy Brown will make his debut in the franchise in the upcoming sequel, but not much else has been revealed about his character. In a new chat with Collider, Brown offered some new details on the role which includes many scenes with fellow franchise newcomer Bill Skarsgård.
Brown went on to describe how the rumors of Keanu Reeves being a “really nice” guy are all true. It was recently reported that Reeves spent his own birthday visiting the John Wick 4 set just to visit his co-star Lance Reddick. Brown also confirms this story and notes just how much of a “good guy” Keanu really is.

Reddick personally said how much it meant to him that Reeves took the time to make that visit to the set on his day off from filming. As Reddick explained, “Whenever I work with a big movie star for the first time, I keep my guard up to protect my work from an ego. And if there’s any big movie star who’s not that person, it’s Keanu. During John Wick: Chapter 4, my first day of filming happened to be Keanu’s birthday. But he wasn’t in the scene.”
He added: “He came to the set anyway at nine o’clock at night with his girlfriend who I had never met… His girlfriend is cool as f*ck. And she told me that she asked Keanu what he wanted to do for his birthday and he said, ‘I want to go see Lance.’ He’d never done this before but he wrote me a note thanking me for what I brought to the character in these movies. And he wanted to give the note to me. I’ll never forget it. I’m going to cry now.”
Other newcomers to the John Wick series along with Brown include Rina Sawayama, Donnie Yen, Shamier Anderson, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Scott Adkins. Laurence Fishburne and Ian McShane are also returning to reprise their roles from the movie series alongside Reeves and Reddick. Chad Stahelski returns to direct using a screenplay by Shay Hatten and Michael Finch. Stahelski also produces with Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee.
John Wick: Chapter 4 is slated for a release in movie theaters on March 24, 2023. Meanwhile, you can catch Clancy Brown in the Showtime revival series Dexter: New Blood.
