The first official artwork for Clerks III has been released. Kevin Smith has already revealed that we are now just under a week away from the sequel’s first trailer after the long-gestating movie was finally put into production at Lionsgate. Because Smith is counting down the days, he’s looking to give fans something to hold them over on each day until the trailer arrives. The first treat comes in the form of the first key art for the film made by Lionsgate which includes the tagline, “They’re too old for this shift.”
“6 MORE DAYS until we pull the gum out of the locks and open Clerks III for business with the official trailer reveal on WEDNESDAY, July 6th!” Smith said on Facebook while posting the poster. “The crafty, creative folks in the Lionsgate marketing branch have created A TON of great art that’s evocative of the flick! So I’ll be putting up an image a day until we unveil the official poster with the trailer this Wednesday!”

Teasing the Clerks III tour, Smith added, “In the meantime, follow Clerks on all the social media platforms for more updates and art! I’ll be touring Clerks III just like we did with Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, so you can watch the movie with me and then we’ll Q&A about it afterwards! The first 19 dates go on sale Wednesday as well, with our second wave of cities announced on Comic-Con weekend! I can’t wait to take you back to Quick Stop, where my view was first askewed, to share the next chapter in the lives of Dante, Randal, Becky, Elias, and Jay and Silent Bob with anybody who still cares about this 90’s nonsense as much as I do!”

While Clerks 2 took Dante and Randal out of the Quick Stop and into the world of fast food with jobs at Mooby’s, Clerks III will be more reminiscent of the original by bringing the story back to the Quick Stop. In the sequel, Randal suffers a near-fatal heart attack and it completely changes his outlook on life. He wants to immortalize himself as a Quick Stop clerk and proceeds to gather Dante and other pals to make an indie film about their jobs, inspired by how Kevin Smith had shot the original Clerks as a Quick Stop employee in the early 1990s.
Brian O’Halloran and Jeff Anderson reprise their roles as Dante Hicks and Randal Graves, and, of course, Smith and Jason Mewes return as Silent Bob and Jay. Marilyn Ghigliotti and Scott Schiaffo are back from the original Clerks as Veronica and the Chewlie’s gum representative while Rosario Dawson and Trevor Fehrman return as Clerks 2’s Becky and Elias. We can be sure there will be plenty of other surprises for fans of the previous movies.
Clerks III doesn’t have an official release date announced just yet, but perhaps that will come with the premiere of the first trailer, coming on Wednesday, July 6.
