The battle for the soul of the Valley may be over, but the war is just beginning in the latest trailer for Cobra Kai Season 5. Released courtesy of the official Netflix YouTube channel, the trailer offers a whole host of new footage as the karate plague continues to take over this small town and infect the lives of Johnny Lawrence, Daniel LaRusso, and everyone close to them. You can check out the exciting new trailer for Cobra Kai Season 5 below.

Following the shocking results of the All Valley Tournament, Sensei Terry Silver is expanding the Cobra Kai empire and trying to make his “No Mercy” style of karate the only game in town. With Kreese behind bars and Johnny Lawrence setting karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he’s caused, Daniel LaRusso must call on an old friend for help.

As Terry leads Cobra Kai into a new regime, Daniel, Johnny and an old ally join forces in a battle that goes way beyond the mat.

The latest trailer offers further insight into master manipulator Terry Silver’s schemes, as Cobra Kai becomes even more vicious than ever before. Season 4, which hit the streaming service at the end of last year to much acclaim, ended with Martin Kove’s character John Kreese being dragged off to prison by the police, allowing his partner in crime and karate to take over the legacy of Cobra Kai. As demonstrated here, we will see what Kreese’s time behind bars is like. And evidently, his fellow prisoners will initially misunderstand the situation. He’s not locked in there with them, they are very much locked in there with him.

Cobra Kai Season 5 Will Bring Several New Players into the Game

Cobra Kai Season 5 finds several rivalries at its center, from Johnny and Daniel versus Terry to Miguel Diaz versus Robby Keene, and every other battle in between. Several new, and several familiar, faces will be added to the fray in season 5, including The Karate Kid Part II’s Chozen Toguchi, played once again by Yuji Okumoto.

The Karate Kid Part III’s Sean Kanan has also now been confirmed to be reprising the role of Mike Barnes. Alongside them, the series will introduce its first female sensei in the form of Alicia Hannah-Kim as Kim Da-Eun, a karate master from South Korea who will add her particularly violent teaching methods to the Cobra Kai dojo.

Cobra Kai creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg have teased the unforeseeable nature of season 5. Which comes as a result of the bad guys winning at the end of season 4. “Season 4 everyone knew that we were heading toward a tournament — season 5, no one knows where we are headed,” Hurwitz said. “We do, because we already made it. There’s a lot of insanity; if you’re a fan of the franchise, maybe some familiar faces show up, maybe not; there’s going to be a lot of karate.”

Starring Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, Courtney Henggeler, Xolo Maridueña, Tanner Buchanan, Mary Mouser, Jacob Bertrand, Martin Kove, Peyton List, and Thomas Ian Griffith, Cobra Kai Season 5 is due to land on Netflix on September 9.
