Emmy-nominated actress and one-time Disney+ kids talk show host Yvette Nicole Brown is set to host the Casting Society’s 38th Annual Awards show on Mar. 9. The show is back in person for the first time since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Brown previously hosted the CSA’s virtual awards ceremony in 2021, and she took to Twitter to say that she is “PSYCHED” to be asked to host again.

Following the announcement on Monday, Jan. 30, which also included a list of the organization’s honorees for special awards for excellence in casting, Brown posted about her excitement on Twitter. She tweeted, “When I say I am PSYCHED to be back hosting the #ArtiosAwards again! First time back in person since the pandemic and THE @TheRitaMoreno — who I absolutely ADORE — is being honored! “Yvette did an amazing job hosting the virtual Artios Awards two years ago, and we are excited to see her in person and onstage in front of our casting community in Los Angeles,” said CSA president Destiny Lilly, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. “She is a huge advocate for casting professionals, and we’re thrilled that she’s our host for our first in-person Artios Awards since 2020.”

The official announcement via THR also included that the CSA will be honoring EGOT winner and 80 for Brady star Rita Moreno with the Lynn Stalmaster Award for Career Achievement. “Ms. Moreno has an illustrious career and is a cultural icon. We are beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to present to her with this award to celebrate everything that she has accomplished,” said Lilly.

Yvette Nicole Brown ‘Knows Nothing’ About Community: The Movie

After seven years of waiting, Peacock announced in September 2022 that it would finally be fulfilling the Dan Harmon-created show Community’s promise of “six seasons and a movie.” The NBCUNiversal-owned streamer ordered the film after winning rights to the series’ intellectual property in a “competitive situation.”

Thus far, set to reprise their roles for the movie are original series stars Joel McHale, Donald Glover, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong, with Harmon and Andrew Guest as writers and executive producers. Mchale is also set to serve as an executive producer on Sony Pictures Television and Universal Television’s Community: The Movie alongside Russ Krasnoff and Gary Foster.

However, Brown, who played Shirley Bennet in the NBC/Yahoo series, has not yet been confirmed for the movie and comments the actress made to Variety cast doubt on her return. “I don’t know anything about the movie – I literally know nothing,” Brown said in a red carpet interview on Nov. 16, 2022, “You know as much as I do.”
