The upcoming boxing sequel, Creed 3, will include “the best-coordinated fights” that legendary cutman Jacob “Stitch” Duran has ever seen, says the man himself. Speaking with Fred Talks Fighting, Duran teased the brilliance of the boxing that will sit at the center of the sequel, as well as revealing that Creed 3 will be “completely different” from the rest of the Rocky franchise.

Duran, who has appeared in the Creed franchise as the cutman for Michael B. Jordan’s boxing champ and has worked on such real-life boxing pros as the Klitschko brothers and Tyson Fury, revealed that Creed 3 has a very different story to what Rocky fans are expecting. And while he didn’t give any further details, he is not the first to hint at Creed 3 forging its own path.

“We finished filming a month ago, it’s going to be very exciting. Michael B. Jordan did a great job, the plot of the film is completely different, it’s not like Rocky, it’s a completely different story, with great fights, probably the best coordinated fights I’ve ever seen.”

Rocky star and action movie icon Sylvester Stallone has previously teased the uniqueness of Creed 3 saying, “It takes it in a different direction. I wish them well and keep punching!” One such difference will be the complete absence of Rocky Balboa, who will not feature in Creed 3 at all. While Stallone also refarined from offering further details at the time, he did call it “really interesting.” So, what do you think these big changes could be? Creed 3 will still center on a boxing bout, so how different can it really be? Sadly, we have to wait until next year to find out.

Creed star Michael B. Jordan is all set to make his feature directorial debut with the upcoming boxing threequel, which will find Jordan’s title character stepping into the ring with an intimidatingly bulked-up Jonathan Majors.

While further plot details for Creed 3 currently remain a secret, Jordan has heaped praise on the addition of Majors, as well as teasing the boxing spectacle that will be on display when the pair face-off. “Jonathan’s just an incredible actor, an incredible person,” Jordan said of adding the actor to the franchise. “Me and him, we just connected the first time we spoke. And then when I pitched him the film, he hit me right back and it was all go from there, you know? So, he was bought in. He has so many different talents, and things that he brings to the table. He was just perfect for the role, so it was a match made in heaven. I’m extremely lucky. We’re very blessed to have him and I can’t wait for everybody to see what we do.”

Directed by Michael B. Jordan from a screenplay by Keenan Coogler and Zach Baylin, and starring Michael B. Jordan, Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad, Wood Harris, Florian Munteanu, Jonathan Majors, Selenis Leyva, Thaddeus J. Mixson, Spence Moore II, and Mila Davis-Kent, Creed 3 is scheduled to be released on March 3, 2023, by United Artists Releasing.
