One of the latest posters created by Creepy Duck Design is for the upcoming film The Last Voyage of the Demeter. According to their website, the founder of Creepy Duck Design, Colm Geoghegan, is an artist who designs film posters. Among the companies that he’s worked for over the years have been Paramount Pictures, Universal, Prime Video, A24, Shudder, Lionsgate, and 20th Century Studios.
Creepy Duck designed posters for some of the biggest horror movies of 2022, including Terrifier 2, Scream (2022), Smile, The Black Phone, Barbarian, and Hellraiser (2022). The one Geoghegan made for The Last Voyage of the Demeter is a concept poster, however, and not for the official movie. That said, a Twitter post from Creepy Duck implied that it could be if Universal Pictures were ever to say hello.
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
Here’s a little bit of background on the film The Last Voyage of the Demeter. The movie is based on “The Captain’s Log” from Dracula. An epistolary novel, Dracula is made up of several different types of documents, usually diaries. “The Captain’s Log” details how the crew of the ship, which is transporting several boxes of dirt, starts to mysteriously disappear because, well, Dracula. Eventually, the only one left is the captain, who ties his hands to the stirring wheel in one of the book’s most iconic scenes.
The poster depicts the Demeter amid a raging storm, with winged creatures that look very much like bats flying above in the air. Also hovering in the air, in front of a flash of lightning, is a figure whose features are indiscernible but whose identity isn’t hard to figure out. At the bottom of the words is “COMING SOON,” we know the film will be released on August 11, 2023. Creepy Duck Design’s full poster can be found below.

What Else We Know
Universal Pictures
The Last Voyage of the Demeter has been in production for around two decades. Corey Hawkins, from Straight Outta Compton and In the Heights, will star in the film as a doctor who joins the titular ship. Aisling Franciosi, known for her roles in The Nightingale and The Fall, will play an unwitting stowaway aboard the ship.
Playing the role of the Count will be Javier Botet, whose specialty is as a creature actor. Among his work in the horror genre includes Niña Medeiros in REC, the Crooked Man in The Conjuring 2, and Mama in Mama. His casting in the film suggests a more inhuman-looking depiction of the Count, like Count Orlok (Max Schreck) in Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror.
The film is set to premiere in a horror-packed year. A few other scary movies released throughout August consist of Meg 2: The Trench, with Jason Statham reprising his role from the previous film. A new Haunted Mansion (2023), after the previous film version starring Eddie Murphy. And They Listen, whose plot is unknown, will star John Cho and Katherine Waterston.
The Last Voyage of the Demeter also won’t be the only horror movie about Dracula this year. Reinfeld, which recently released its poster and trailer, will also have a new depiction of Dracula, this one played by Nicolas Cage. Joining Cage in the cast will be Nicholas Hoult as Renfield and Awkwafina as Rebecca Quincy. Two actors with supporting roles in the movie are Jenna Kanell and Caroline Williams.
