Shemar Moore, who fans know and drool over from multiple CBS dramas and the long-running series Criminal Minds announced that he is expecting his first child with girlfriend Jesiree Dizon. The announcement came while Moore was on The Jennifer Hudson Show, which will air on January 26th.

When first announcing the news, Moore shared with the audience why the due date is so meaningful to him, “I’m Shemar Moore, 52½ years old. My mother is in heaven, right now it’ll be the three-year anniversary on February 8, and on February 8, I’m going to make one of her dreams come true because, in real life, Shemar Moore is about to be a daddy.” His announcement was met with an eruption of applause from the audience.

At age 52, Moore told Hudson “I’m so excited. I’m sorry she can’t be here. I was worried for a while that it was a ’that ship has sailed,’ kind of thing, but God had my back and things lined up.” Moore continued, “It’s going to be the best part of — my life is already pretty grand, but I know whenever God does call my name, once I get this experience, I’ll be able to go to heaven whole.”

Moore opened up about his close relationship with his mom before her passing and had shared with People that just before her death, he had showed his mom a house he planned to buy, looking for her approval before he purchased. The actor said at the time, “I brought my mom to the house, she looked around, and then she said, ‘This is my son’s home. I’m proud of you, Boo. And I hope it gives you a great life.’” Moore has opened up previously about his desire to have a family and although his mother’s death leaves a void, “I’m doing my best to make it me, to make it my mother’s son’s home.” the actor says.

The Criminal Minds actor who currently stars on the CBS show S.W.A.T. shared a sex reveal video on Instagram where he, Dizon and other friends and family gathered to learn the sex of their baby, due on February 8th. Dizon is already a mother of two from previous relationships, but the model hinted at the possibility of more with Moore, “If we have a boy, we’re one and done,” said the model. Potentially implying the couple may try for another baby in the future.

Moore went on to reveal the name choices of their expected baby, “It’s either going to be Legend, little homie, or it’s going to be Frankie, little baby girl, and I’m about to be a father come February 8, 2023,” he said. Soon after, the video showed a helicopter flying overhead and releasing pink smoke as the crowd cheered. Watch the full video below.
