At this year’s D23 Expo, Disney Branded Television hosted Disney’s Epic Entertainment Showcase: The Musical: The Extravaganza! This showcase revealed all of the upcoming projects, shows, movies, and more that will be coming to Disney+, Disney Channel, and Disney Junior. Disney Branded Television is responsible for creating entertainment magic across generations of young fans and they are not slowing down anytime soon. This event was nothing short of spectacular in its production and quickly became a highlight moment for the entire weekend.
The event, held on the second day of the convention, was hosted by Disney Channel legend Raven-Symoné and YouTube star and Late Night TV host Lilly Singh. The comedic duo absolutely stole the show and kept audiences engaged, excited, and laughing out loud throughout the duration of the showcase. The show first kicked off with an absolutely rockin’ performance from the Muppets to advertise the new show coming to Disney+, The Muppets Mayhem. This showcase was full of energy, music, as well as emotion. We have put together some of the highlights from the showcase that you should take note of!

The show starts off strong with The Muppets Mayhem announcement and performance. Host Lilly Singh, is part of the comedy series’s cast and expressed much excitement for its release. Following this incredible intro, audiences were hit with a high-energy performance from the cast of one of Disney+’s most successful shows to date. The cast of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series absolutely killed their performance of “Love Is An Open Door” and “High School Musical.”
American Born Chinese:
Disney+
American Born Chinese is a show that is based on an incredible graphic novel by Gene Luen Yang. The cast, including Michelle Yeoh, Ben Wang, and Ke Huy Quan took to the stage to express the importance of shining a light on the culture surrounding this show as well as the diversity needed in its international cast. Audiences were given the treat of a special behind-the-scenes clip of the show.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians:
Disney
One of the most highly anticipated shows coming next year took center stage at this grand showcase. Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the next adaptation of Rick Riordan’s popular young adult fantasy novel showed its first little sneak peek of the cast (Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri) in action. The show is still in early production, but make sure you keep this series on your radar.
National Treasure: Edge of History & The Santa Clauses:
Other Disney+ projects that were highlighted were National Treasure: Edge of History and The Santa Clauses. National Treasure: Edge of History premiered their first official trailer at the showcase and depicted a show full of action, adventure, and fun. The show is set to arrive on Disney+ on December 14 with a 2-episode premiere. The Santa Clauses marks the triumphant return of Tim Allen’s Santa Claus. The show depicts Allen ready to retire as Santa Claus. This holiday comedy show will come out with its first 2 episodes on November 16.
Animation:
The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder cast officially announces their new season coming in February 2023 as well as sharing a special trailer with the audience. The cast also teases guest appearances from Normani, Gabrielle Union, and even Chance the Rapper. Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, which hosted a panel earlier that day, went in depth on the story and world they want to build around the 13-year-old brainiac Luna Lafayette, also known as Moon Girl.
Unscripted/Documentaries:
Disney+ is outdoing itself with Unscripted. There is something inherently beautiful about the lives we all live and Disney+ is doing its part in highlighting those stories. The showcase wraps up the Disney+ portion of their presentation by announcing the Elton John Livestream occurring on November 29 as he performs live from Dodger Stadium. We also get to know the story of Madu, an upcoming documentary following the rise of a young dancer from Lagos after going viral on the internet. Finally, we also hear more about Brie Larson’s uplifting series Growing Up as well as the inspirational docuseries Choir.
Disney Junior
Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures:
Disney Junior
Disney is one of the best channels out there making content perfect for your young ones. At this showcase, Disney Junior gave us all the details about the upcoming show Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures. Audiences were also shown behind-the-scenes clips that are just bringing the anticipation for this series off the charts. Although we all have to wait until 2023 for this show, it looks like it would be worth the wait.
Disney Channel
The Descendants 4 & Raven’s Home:

Some of the biggest surprises in this showcase occurred near the end. Descendants star Chyna Anne McClaine comes on stage to reveal an exciting fourth installment of the popular film franchise. The Descendants remains some of the most successful films from Disney Channel and this fourth movie is sure to deliver some catchy tunes, incredible dance sequences, and the return of some of our favorite characters. Also coming out of nowhere is Raven-Symoné’s announcement of the renewal of her sitcom Raven’s Home for a sixth season. Many people who grew up watching That’s So Raven have been loving this show and the fact that we do not have to say goodbye to these beloved characters is a win in and of itself.
Under Wraps 2, Prom Pact & Zombies 3:
DCOM’s just hit differently. Disney Channel is nothing without its groundbreaking Original Movies and at D23 this year, they did not skimp out. At the end of Disney’s Epic Entertainment Showcase: The Musical: The Extravaganza, the audience is met with performances, skits, and special footage for Under Wraps 2, a new movie called Prom Pact, and the third Zombies movie.
