This has not been a great year for actor Ezra Miller, who has been consistently generating controversy with multiple arrests for various crimes in different states. With so much negative publicity surrounding Miller, there have been rumors that Warner Bros. Discovery could end up shelving The Flash, much in the way they’ve already done with Batgirl. That has reportedly resulted in a meeting with producers to discuss the film along with Miller issuing a public apology for their actions, stating that they’ve since begun mental health treatment.
Because there had been some rumors about The Flash getting nixed, there may have also been speculation that his more limited role in Dalíland could be axed. Ahead of the film’s premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), director Mary Harron (American Psycho) commented on Miller’s role in the Salvador Dalí biopic. Though the film primarily stars Sir Ben Kingsley as an adult Dalí, Miller has a small supporting role as a younger version of the famous artist. Harron told Vanity Fair that Miller’s scenes have remained in the film, even though their name was not mentioned in the TIFF premiere announcement, as production had long been completed before this year’s wave of controversy.
Harron went on to praise Miller’s performance in the film, noting that the actor had also been very kind and professional on the movie’s set. This made it all the more shocking for Harron when Miller would later see their name start hitting the press for all the wrong reasons.
Mary Harron Wants Ezra Miller to Get Help
Pressman Film
Mary Harron wants to make it clear that even with Ezra Miller remaining in the movie, she does not condone their behavior. For her part, Harron really wants to see Miller getting professional help and hopes that this has already happened, as Miller recently said.
Dalíland is the closing film of TIFF, which runs from Sept. 8-18. Directed by Harron, the film is written by John C. Walsh.
