Former James Bond actor Daniel Craig doesn’t spend his free time speculating who might be the next person to suit up as 007, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be there to support whomever it is that gets the job. Last year, Craig said goodbye to Bond with No Time to Die, the final installment of his 5-movie run that began in 2006 with Casino Royale. Given the definitive ending of No Time to Die, it’s pretty clear that Craig is really finished with his journey as the iconic secret agent.
No new actor has yet been cast, so that leaves the door open for the rumor mill to get spinning. Here lately, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has emerged as an actor who could potentially play the role. This was something Josh Horowitz asked Craig about for a new interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. Craig admits he hasn’t heard any of these rumors simply because he isn’t paying attention. Without a presence on social media, and spending his free time in other ways, the actor says he has no concern or care about what’s going on with the James Bond role, rumors or otherwise.

That doesn’t mean Craig doesn’t care about James Bond of the future of the franchise. He just doesn’t get involved with the fantasy casting or speculation about who might be the next person to get the role. Whenever Bond 26 inevitably arrives with a new actor, Craig makes it clear he’ll be among the first filmgoers to see it. As he said when asked if he’d be there for the next film:
Who Will Be the Next James Bond?
Universal Pictures
For now, all we can do is guess who will play the next James Bond. We can be sure that another movie will be coming, given the continued popularity of the franchise. But the producers haven’t been in a huge rush to get production started on the next film, hence why there still hasn’t been any new actor cast. This was in part to make sure they had the best possible person for the part to move forward rather than rushing to make another movie.
“It’s a big decision,” producer Barbara Broccoli previously told Variety. “It’s not just casting a role. It’s about a whole rethink about where we’re going. I’m just here celebrating one of the greatest actors on the planet, Daniel Craig.”
