We all know that the X-Men’s arrival in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is imminent, but the big question remains as to who might be playing them. In particular, Wolverine is someone many fans want to see appear, but casting this role with the right actor might prove to be a challenge following Hugh Jackman’s iconic portrayal. One name that has come up for years is Daniel Radcliffe.

For years, Radcliffe’s name has come up pretty much anytime rumors of the X-Men getting rebooted in the MCU have been reported on. He has consistently denied that there’s been any official involvement, though many fans have said they’d be on board with this casting. On The Tonight Show on Friday night, Radcliffe was asked once again about the Wolverine situation, Radcliffe explains how he’s answered this question so often that sometimes he’ll have some fun with it with his response. Referring to recently addressing the rumors once again, Radcliffe noted how he was able to stir them back up, and it generated a lot of attention as a result.

As for why his name keeps coming up with the Wolverine fantasy casting online, Radcliffe has offered his theory. The Harry Potter star boils it down to his height, as the Wolverine character was originally depicted in the comic books as shorter in stature. Radcliffe wonders if people are nominating him for the role is simply because of his height. In any case, he’s nevertheless flattered that so many fans want to see him in that role, especially as it puts him in the league of longtime Logan actor Hugh Jackman.

Wolverine Will Be in the MCU Soon Enough, But Who Will Play Him?

Patrick Stewart will return as Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but it’s unclear if any version of Wolverine or other X-Men characters will appear. Some fans would love to see Hugh Jackman back in the role one more time, possibly for a cameo in the second Doctor Strange film. Whether that happens or not, the group will likely be reimagined with new actors for the MCU at some point in the future, and this is where new names for the role will come in.

Another popular name that has been nominated by fans is Scott Eastwood. Some of the other actors that come up with fantasy casting include Jon Bernthal, Antony Starr, Keanu Reeves, and many more. There’s no telling who will ultimately get the part when the time comes, so we can expect for the fan speculation to continue for some time to come.

As for Daniel Radcliffe, time will tell if the actor ever joins the MCU as the next Wolverine. In any case, he can first be seen as famed parodist “Weird Al” Yankovic in The Roku Channel’s upcoming comedy biopic Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, expected to arrive later this year.
