Plenty of Daredevil fans were shocked when the Netflix series was canceled after just three seasons. While that decision turned out to be about Marvel Studios flexing its muscles to take back its characters, which followed the merger of Fox and Disney that allowed the retrieval of “lost” characters like the X-Men and Deadpool. That did not stop many fans from petitioning Netflix to continue the series. Among the fans being left up in the air as to what was happening with the franchise and felt that the series was canceled ahead of its time is Deborah Ann Woll, who played Karen Page in the series and still feels like the story had more to tell.

Daredevil is now heading back to screens in a new 18-part series on Disney+ under the title of Daredevil: Born Again, a fitting title that suggests a new start for the visually impaired superhero, and will see Charlie Cox Reprising his much-loved role. However, it is not yet clear whether the likes of Woll will be returning for the new show or not, but in a recent interview on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast, the actress shared her feelings on the way the Netflix series ended. When it was suggested that she might prefer to return to another of her roles in, such as True Blood or The Punisher, she said:

“I would say no, partially because the Marvel series feel unfinished to me because we got canceled when we thought we were going to have more. There’s a part of me that was like, ‘I had more to say about Karen,’ and I felt I was in the middle of that story. Whereas True Blood, for all its ups and downs, and triumphs and flaws, we did get to wrap it up. I knew that we were wrapping it up, and I could say goodbye to everyone. I stole something from the set. I didn’t get to steal anything from our Daredevil set! I didn’t get to say goodbye to the crew because we all thought we were coming back. So that’s really what I would want back, and I wouldn’t have all of that back, obviously.”

Could Karen Page Be Part of the MCU’s Daredevil Series?

It is clear that when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are very few things that cannot be done and are off-limits. While Daredevil did not particularly leave many story threads hanging loose when it ended on Netflix, there is no doubt that many of the previous casts would love to return for the new show, one being Woll.

With Vincent D’Onofrio having already returned as Kingpin in Hawkeye, and being set to return in both Echo and Daredevil: Born Again, There is no reason to believe that Woll will not be reprising her role as Karen Page when the series comes to Disney+ in 2024, even though she currently claims to know nothing about the series and has not been asked back. We understand that these denials are pretty old hat when it comes to Marvel projects, so her fans will have to wait and see whether she makes a welcome return and whether anyone else will be joining her.
