Gaming horror fans will certainly want to check out The Quarry, the next big video game title from developer Supermassive Games. Serving as a follow-up to Supermassive’s hit 2015 title Until Dawn, The Quarry is basically an interactive horror film where players’ actions will dicate who dies, along with how these unfortunate victims meet their gruesome fates. A new trailer has been released for the game, which puts players into the classic summer camp setting and brings in major horror stars like Scream’s David Arquette. You can watch the trailer below.

Arquette is one of many horror genre fan favorites to lend his voice and likeness to The Quarry. The cast also features Lin Shaye (A Nightmare on Elm Street, Insidious), Ted Raimi (Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn, Candyman), Lance Henriksen (Pumpkinhead, The Terminator), Ethan Suplee (The Hunt, Twin Peaks), and Grace Zabriskie (Twin Peaks, Child’s Play 2). Many other notable stars are also included in the cast to play the younger characters, including Ariel Winter (Modern Family), Justice Smith (Detective Pikachu), Brenda Song (Dollface), Halston Sage (Prodigal Son), Evan Evagora (Star Trek: Picard), Miles Robbins (2018’s Halloween), Siobhan Williams (Hell on Wheels), Skyler Gisondo (Santa Clarita Diet), and Zach Tinker (Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem).

The game’s official description reads: “When the sun goes down on the last night of summer camp, nine teenage counselors are plunged into an unpredictable night of horror. The only thing worse than the blood-drenched locals and creatures hunting them are the unimaginable choices you must make to help them survive. Play as each of the nine camp counselors in a thrilling cinematic tale, where every decision shapes your unique story from a tangled web of possibilities. Any character can be the star of the show—or die before daylight comes. How will your story unfold?”

The Quarry Is Fully Interactive But Doesn’t Have to Be

The developers have put in great effort for horror fans to enjoy The Quarry in different ways. At its core, the game is probably at its scariest when playing alone with the lights off late at night, its cutting edge technology doing wonders to make it feel like a genuine horror film. For the more social type, the optin is also there to play with up to seven friends in an online mode where invited players watch along and vote on key decisions, resulting in group decisions to dicate what happens. A couch co-op experience is also available for players where each can pick their preferred counselor to play as.

For those who just want to check out the story without having to play, Supermassive has you covered. There will be an included Movie Mode that simply lets you put the controller down and enjoy the game as a cinematic thriller, letting the computer take care of the decision-making.

The Quarry is set to be released on June 10, 2022, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox X/S, and Steam. Find out more at the official website.
