David Dastmalchian is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming film, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, although not as his previous character. He played hacker Kurt Goreshter in the previous two Ant-Man films, but will not be reprising this role, and instead appearing as a new character only known as Veb, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This character didn’t appear in the trailer released last night, so it’ll likely be a minor one.

Other actors who have “double-dipped” as different characters in the MCU include Gemma Chan, who appeared in both Captain Marvel and Eternals, while Mahershala Ali was in Luke Cage and is set to star in Blade in 2024.

Will David Dastmalchian Ever Get a Starring Role?

David Dastmalchian is known for his roles as supporting villains in films such as The Dark Night, Prisoners, Bird Box, and Dune. While he doesn’t often get much screen time, his roles are nonetheless iconic and important to the movies he’s in. While he hasn’t landed a starring role quite yet, it only becomes more and more likely as audiences recognize him more often. He began his career in theater in the late 90s and landed his first film role in The Dark Night as one of Joker’s henchmen. He’s been appearing as side characters in dozens of films and shows since then.

Perhaps his biggest role so far was Polka-Dot Man in 2021’s The Suicide Squad, which garnered him further recognition when he adopted a stray cat while filming the movie in Panama. He asked crew members to make a cat-sized Polka-Dot Man costume, and they obliged, causing pictures of the cat in-costume to go viral on social media.

Dastmalchian is set to appear in several new films this year besides Quantumania. These films include Boston Strangler, Oppenheimer, The Last Voyage of the Demeter, The Boogeyman, and Late Night with the Devil.
