If DC is known for anything, it’s the unexpected ways in which it brings superheroes together, such as with Flashpoint. In fact, Flashpoint is the reason for every significant crossover in DC. As a result, we have some remarkable shows based on it, such as The Legends of Tomorrow. If you’re a fan of DC animated films, which have been spanning for decades, you should be aware of the Tomorrowverse, a shared universe built on a series of superhero films produced by Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment.
The Tomorrowverse franchise, which began with Superman: Man of Tomorrow and has since extended to include Justice Society: World War II, Batman: The Long Halloween, and Green Lantern: Beware My Power, is a continuation of the DC Animated Universe, which began in 2013 with Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox.

With the upcoming film Legion of Super-Heroes, DC is expanding the Tomorrowverse even further. The film, based on DC Comics, will be a huge addition to this year’s DC lineup, incorporating Supergirl and other superheroes into the new animated continuity. While fans of the DC animated universe are eagerly awaiting its release, here’s what we know so far.
Legion of Super-Heroes: The Plot
In Legion of Super-Heroes, we follow up with Kara as she struggles to readjust to life on Earth after the destruction of Krypton, the planet she once called home. Although she was sent to Earth to protect her then-infant cousin Kal-El, the tragedy haunts her. Taking her cousin Superman’s advice, she departs their space-time and takes an interest in the Legion Academy, where a new generation of superheroes can hone their abilities and protect the world.
There, she meets new friends with unusual powers and new foes, such as Brainiac, of whom she has unpleasant memories. At the same time, a shadowy organization known as the Dark Circle attempts to steal a powerful weapon from the Academy’s Vault. Can the newly formed Legion of Super-Heroes prevent the deadly organization from obtaining the disastrous weapon that may spell the end of civilization if in the wrong hands?
Despite a few panels that feel odd, the trailer showcases another well-animated, action-packed film. Fans who have read comics or binge-watched DC animated movies and series will be highly familiar with the story. The Legion, which includes many young superheroes, has previously appeared in television shows such as Justice League Unlimited, Smallville, and Superman: The Animated Series. Legion has been all over the DC universe for what seems like forever, and the upcoming film could continue the tradition of crossovers and new hero additions to the shared universe.
