The CW is currently developing a Wonder Girl TV series. Greg Berlanti is producing the new series, while Dailyn Rodriguez (Queen of the South) will write and executive produce. The drama series is based on the DC characters created by Joëlle Jones. Berlanti has had a good run with The CW and DC over the years, and many will have their eyes on Wonder Girl, if and when it gets the official green light from the network.

Wonder Girl is the alias of multiple DC superheroes. The original Wonder Girl, aka Donna Troy, was created by Bob Haney with Bruno Premiani and she first appeared in The Brave and the Bold #60 in 1965. Additionally, the alias has also been used by a younger version of Wonder Woman over the years.
Wonder Girl is set to join other Arrowverse series that include Batwoman, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, the upcoming Superman and Lois series, Black Lightning, and Supergirl, which will be officially wrapping up after season 6, at The CW. Fans will get their first hints of the new show when DC’s Future State debuts in January 2021. We’ll see the young version of Yara Flor, along with an older take on the character. Future State will also unveil new takes on other DC characters, including Batman, Superman, the Flash and Green Lantern.
Joëlle Jones confirmed the Wonder Girl series news on social media this afternoon. She said, “It’s true. I’m not done with Yara Flor after she debuts in DC’s Future State: Wonder Woman in January. More to come!” As for when casting will take place, that is unclear at the moment, though we should find out by the beginning of next year. The CW has not announced when they plan to produce the pilot, but one would imagine that they’ll want to get to work as soon as they can for a possible green light next year.
Wonder Girl is already generating quite a lot of buzz, so it will be interesting to see if the CW decides to move forward with the project. Along with Greg Berlanti and Dailyn Rodriguez, executive producers include Sarah Schechter and David Madden. The one-hour drama would be produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Deadline was the first to announce the upcoming Wonder Girl series.
