Deadpool 3 is very much on the mind of many Marvel fans right now, especially since Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman announced the seemingly impossible team-up of Reynolds’ Deadpool with Jackman’s formerly retired Wolverine. With the first footage from the 2024 release not likely to arrive for well over a year, especially with the movie having been delayed to a November premiere, one fan has created their own trailer, which imagines what could go down between the two characters when their meet in their dual MCU debut.

The return of Deadpool is something fans have wanted since his last appearance in Deadpool 2 back in 2018, but the merger between Disney and Fox put a hold on a possible Deadpool 3 for a number of years. While some fans feared that the foul-mouthed, violent anti-hero would not be a good match for Marvel Studios’ family-centric MCU movie, and that could lead to the character being “Disney-fied” or abandoned entirely, common sense should have decreed that the House of Mouse would never abandon such a potentially lucrative franchise.

Last month, not only did the official Deadpool 3 release date arrive but the unexpected announcement that Hugh Jackman would be defying all expectations to bring his iteration of Wolverine back to screen for one more encore. After seemingly hanging up his claws after 2016’s Logan, the reveal elevated Deadpool 3 from just simply being a highly anticipated threequel to being so much more. As can be seen from the fan trailer, the hype is already starting.

Deadpool 3 Will Not be a Typical MCU Movie

Marvel Studios, and Disney, seem to be loosening their belts a little after the culmination of the Infinity Saga, allowing some darker and more mature themes and Marvel Comics heroes to make appearances in the biggest movie franchise in the world. When it comes to Deadpool, his arrival in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is another step in the direction of the franchise reaching more than just its family audiences, and that is something that seems to have been fully supported by Marvel Studios according to Deadpool 3’s writers. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick previously said:

There are many Marvel movies to be released between now and the arrival of Deadpool 3, with Phase Five of the MCU set to kick off early next year with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. One thing for certain, though, is that fans will always have one eye open for the next update on the Merc with a Mouth’s MCU debut, no matter what else is happening in the Marvel world.

“It’s almost like putting on a comfy old sweater. Marvel’s really given us the support to maintain the tone and the vision that we have for it. They’ve been very hands-off and supportive, but they’ve also let us do what we do. So really, it’s just been fun. We’re mad scientists back in the laboratory again. Deadpool is our favorite who will always be the character I think we’re most associated with, and we’re very grateful for being allowed to write him again. So it’s a blast. It’s like going back to school again after having summer off. It’s pretty fun.”
