Deadpool 3 is finally getting some legs after being slogged down in mergers, writer changes, and numerous rolls of red tape. We just want the red suit. After Marvel head Kevin Feige confirmed an R-rated Deadpool 3, we now officially have writers, a director, and a movie on the way. Ryan Reynolds is set (as always) to reprise the role, but this time in a brand-new home – the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

With Marvel Studios acquiring the rights to the Merc with a Mouth, along with the rest of the X-Men/mutant family, that means Deadpool could team up or be at odds with fellow MCUers.

Some of the best potential interactions are off the table, like Iron Man and Chris Evans’ Captain America. However, there are still plenty of characters who have a general clash of personality with Deadpool, AKA everyone. Deadpool pokes, prods, and annoys everyone he comes in contact with. The fun is in how each respective character handles his erratic actions and big mouth. Some might lose their cool (the Punisher, Wolverine), and others might just roll their eyes and go with it (Spider-Man). No matter who you pair him with, Deadpool will make it a blast to watch.

Here are some MCU characters we’d like to see share the screen with Wade Wilson in Deadpool 3.

Wolverine

In a perfect world, Disney would drive a dump truck full of money to Hugh Jackman’s house and hit the lever. But then he’d actually have to accept it. But the man behind Wolverine has stuck to his guns and hung up the claws after 2017’s hit Logan. The role will inevitably be recast. Marvel hasn’t gotten it wrong yet on casting, so we’re operating under the assumption they’ll hit on the perfect Wolverine actor as Fox did 20-plus years ago.

Wolverine is an easily annoyed, highly lethal killing machine. Crossing him usually leads to deadly, limb severing results. Who better to taunt the caged animal inside Logan than Deadpool? It’s been a can’t-miss in countless comic storylines as well as animated films such as Hulk Vs. Wolverine. And yes, even a few silver lining scenes in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

A better recipe than a full-on antagonistic relationship would be a team-up, i.e., Wolverine having to tolerate Deadpool. Plus, with the fourth wall nonsense provided by Deadpool, count on some great Jackman-related cracks.

Daredevil

Deadpool is at his best and funniest when faced with a complete polar opposite. We got a healthy supply of these moments when Deadpool ran up against Colossus in Deadpool and Deadpool 2. The movies went out of their way to portray Piotr Rasputin as the consummate do-gooder, going so far as to show him regularly studying the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters rule book he already had memorized. While bringing back the gentle giant Russian character and actor Stefan Kapicic would be a great MCU move. With his fellow boy scout Steve Rogers retired, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is the best choice to provide the ultimate contrast to Deadpool.

Daredevil is very much the Batman of Marvel Comics. He’s a rooftop roving vigilante whose mission is rooted in a strict code of morals and rules. He strives to be seen as the good guy, or at the very least, not the bad guy. Everything is controlled and centered, and he doesn’t kill. Enter Deadpool, who is just chaos personified. He kills and maims almost indiscriminately, teetering on being a monster without fully crossing that line. Deadpool has a thin shred of moral fiber, while Daredevil is fully composed of it.

Spider-Man

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has seen a lot in his time in the MCU. He’s faced Thanos and his alien army, most of the Sinister Six, and tremendous loss. Despite all this, the ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home suggests that he’s still very much a wide-eyed kid trying to make a difference. Facing a pure force of nature like Deadpool will test this Spider-Man further.

Holland and Reynolds could play off each other perfectly, quip for quip. Spider-Man and Deadpool are very much alike in their personalities but miles apart in their methods. The similarities and contrast would be fun to see on the screen.

The Punisher

Jon Bernthal’s Punisher would work head-to-head with Deadpool much like Wolverine would; pure rage personified up against the most annoying and mouthy character the MCU has to offer. Bernthal nailed the hair-trigger nature of the Punisher in three seasons of Netflix appearances. He’s on a mission that takes few to no prisoners. He suffers no fools or anyone for that matter. Now picture him up against the ultimate fool. Reynolds’ Deadpool is just the character to really piss off Frank Castle and push him to his limits while keeping in mind they’re pretty much equals in their skill sets.

It sounds like a cop-out, but in the end, you can’t go wrong with Deadpool paired up with anyone. He’s a character unlike any other, meaning each interaction with MCU members will bring something unique and entertaining to the table. The best option post-Deadpool 3 would be a new Avengers line-up comprised of MCU veterans and fresh faces for Deadpool to annoy all in one movie.
