The love story is never the whole story in the latest trailer for the 20th Century Fox erotic psychological thriller Deep Water starring Ben Affleck and Ana Da Armas. Deep Water was recently pulled from the schedule by 20th Century Fox and will now skip theaters and head straight to streaming, emerging on Hulu on March 18, 2022, following several delays.
Directed by Adrian Lyne, and based on the 1957 novel of the same name by Patricia Highsmith, Deep Water has been adapted for the screen by Zach Helm and Sam Levinson. Deep Water is led by ex-real-life couple Ben Affleck and Ana Da Armas, who star as Vic Van Allen and Melinda Van Allen, respectively. The movie centers on the pair as a married couple who have fallen out of love with each other. They begin playing deadly mind games against one another and then start seeing those around them dying under mysterious circumstances. Alongside the trailer, a poster has also now been released.

Thanks to the involvement of Ben Affleck and the deeply sinister tone that drowns the footage, Deep Water will instantly conjure memories of David Fincher’s Gone Girl. Also featuring a manipulative wife at its forefront, we can only hope that Deep Water will reach the heights of the critically acclaimed thriller from 2014, which saw Rosamund Pike nominated for an Academy Award.
Deep Water Sees Director Adrian Lyne Return to the Erotic Thriller Genre
Hulu
Ben Affleck (Gone Girl, The Flash) and Ana de Armas (Knives Out, No Time to Die) star in the psychological thriller Deep Water from director Adrian Lyne, which sees the filmmaker return to the erotic thriller genre that he has helmed so well in the past. Based on the celebrated novel by famed mystery writer Patricia Highsmith (The Talented Mr. Ripley), Deep Water takes us inside the marriage of picture-perfect Vic and Melinda Van Allen to discover the dangerous mind games they play and what happens to the people that get caught up in them.
Deep Water finds Adrian Lyne return to the big screen for the first time since the 2002 erotic thriller film Unfaithful. Starring Richard Gere, Diane Lane, and Olivier Martinez, Deep Water will return the filmmaker to themes he has become well-known for, such as betrayal, mystery, murder, and all with a hefty dose of sexual tension. Lyne is also known for the likes of Fatal Attraction, Indecent Proposal, and Lolita, and so, after a 20-year absence, Deep Water should find him on comfortable, solid ground.
Starring Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas, the central couple will lead an ensemble cast that includes Tracy Letts as Lionel Washington, Lil Rel Howery as Nash Hall, Dash Mihok as Arthur Goggins, Finn Wittrock as Damon “Dom” Hart, Kristen Connolly as Jackie Connelly, Jacob Elordi as Richard Chase, and Rachel Blanchard as Maggie Connelly. Deep Water is scheduled to be released on Hulu on March 18, 2022, following several delays due to the ongoing global situation, which has seen the movie pushed back from an initial release date of November 13, 2020.
