If you’re a fan of Dennis Hopper, you might want to mark your calendars! The Hopper Art Trust has just signed a partnership with the Louder Than Pop arts and entertainment company to create Dennis Hopper: Widescreen. The event is a digital immersive experience that will tour eight cities next year. This news comes from Deadline, who describes the experience below.
The exhibit plans to start in Los Angeles, then will travel through New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, London and Paris. Fans of Hopper are sure to get a taste of all of his greatest projects, including Rebel Without a Cause, Easy Rider, Apocalypse Now, The Last Movie, and Blue Velvet.
Hopper himself will be the visitors’ guide through written and recorded interviews. Visitors will also get to see a collection of Hopper’s never-before-seen personal items from his Taos, New Mexico properties, the El Cortez Theater, and items that are part of the Hopper Art Trust. Such items include hundreds of writings, artwork, photographs, awards, film props, wardrobe, and unreleased film reels. The collection will also include letters to Hopper from artists including John Lennon, Miles Davis, and Peter Fonda.

While Hopper’s numerous films might come to mind first, he was also a well known photographer. His most notable works include the cover photo for Ike and Tina Turner’s River Deep – Mountain High as well as the 1965 civil rights march in Selma, Alabama. His photos, along with his paintings, were shown in galleries and museums throughout the world. Some of the notable galleries that displayed his works include the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Walker Art Center, the Whitney, and Cinematheque Francaise. His success also branched into writing as well, with Vogue and other publications seeking him out to write articles on the new generation, the art scene, and Hollywood.
