Spoiler Alert: This story contains MAJOR SPOILERS for Black Adam

Man of Steel star Henry Cavill is officially back as Superman. Since appearing in the red and blue suit during the final moments of the most recent DC outing, Black Adam, fans have wondered what this will mean for Cavill’s iteration of Superman going forward. Well, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Cavill has so far only signed on for that brief Black Adam cameo…but the studio is interested in more.

The appearance, and thus the return, of Henry Cavill as Superman during the last few seconds of Black Adam has been known for some time. Cavill’s Man of Steel steps out of the smoke to issue an invitation for a little chat with Dwayne Johnson’s antihero, with audiences no doubt erupting into a chorus of cheers and applause.

“We, like others, are buzzing about the post-credits scene for Black Adam, but will it lead anywhere? The actor involved made a one-off deal, sources tell Heat Vision, though the studio is definitely interested in more from the star (including a solo outing).”

With Henry Cavill back, DC fans have been left to wonder what exactly this means. According to the report, while Cavill has thus far only signed on to suit up again for Black Adam, the studio is now very interested in bringing the actor back for more. A “solo outing” is specifically mentioned, meaning that we may at last see Man of Steel 2 (which will surely be called Man of Tomorrow) materialize.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and written by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani, Black Adam has now crashed into theaters. Introducing Dwayne Johnson as Teth-Adam, who is imprisoned for 5,000 years; he is chosen by the wizard Shazam and imbued with superpowers, emerging in the modern day as the lethal protector, Black Adam.

Following the post-credits scene, which has been an open secret for a while now, Henry Cavill himself has now taken to social media to confirm his Superman return — and teases more to come. “Hey everyone, I wanted to wait until the weekend was over before posting this because I wanted to give you all a chance to watch Black Adam,” Cavill said. " But now that plenty of you have, I wanted to make it official that I am back as Superman. And the image you see on this post and what you saw in Black Adam are just a very small taste of things to come. So there’s a lot to be thankful for, and I’ll get to that in time. But I wanted to thank you guys most of all for your support and thank you for your patience. I promise it will be rewarded."

With a Man of Steel sequel now reportedly in development, Henry Cavill back on the studio’s radar, and Dwayne Johnson’s constant hype surrounding an eventual Black Adam versus Superman project, it sounds like there will be a lot more of Cavill to come in the DC Cinematic Universe.

Black Adam is in theaters now.
