While Daredevil and the other shows in what’s now being referred to as the Defenders Saga had spent many years streaming on Netflix where they first premiered, you’ll no longer find the streaming service’s name in the opening credits. Just recently, the shows all migrated over to Disney+ following the expiration of Netflix’s contract with Marvel. It only makes sense to have all of the Marvel content in the same place, though Disney has taken the extra step of erasing Netflix’s logo from the series.
It’s a subtle change, but it was noticed by fans. The Defenders shows used to feature the Netflix logo in the corner in the opening credits that has since been replaced with the Disney+ logo. Fair enough, though what has also been removed are the other references. The phrases “Marvel Television and Netflix Presents” and “A Netflix Original Series” were simply removed from the credits entirely. Even with the change in streamers, some fans found this to be odd as it ignores where the shows first came from.

What would likely bother fans much more than this would be if Disney had censored some of the violence, language, and other R-rated elements from the Defenders Saga. The company has instead encouraged parents to set up parental controls to prevent younger viewers from accessing the content. In any case, it does not appear that any footage has been removed from the shows, keeping them all intact other than the omission of the Netflix references in the opening credits.
Will the Defenders Return in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Moving these shows to Disney+ follows the returns of two Daredevil characters in the MCU. Charlie Cox finally brought back his Matt Murdock character for a special appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, while Vincent D’Onofrio returned as Kingpin in the Disney+ series Hawkeye. It stands to reason that we’ll be seeing more of them following this reintroduction, but it remains to be seen when that will happen. Chances are, other characters from the Defenders Saga are bound to start showing up as well.
We have seen that Disney hasn’t censored Daredevil. Even so, there’s speculation that the rumored reboot of the series could come with a softer tone that’s more in line with Disney’s other Marvel content. Whether that happens or not, Cox has faith in Marvel Studios to make such a Daredevil show work, even if they had to show some restraint now and then.
“I wouldn’t put it past the folks at Marvel to be able to accomplish that," Cox said, per ComicBook.com. “I’m such a fan of everything they’ve done so far, I wouldn’t underestimate them at all. So if they wanted to make a more PG version of Daredevil, I back them to find a way to do where it feels totally in keeping with everything we’ve done. And maybe there’s a little less blood, maybe there’s a little whatever, but I back them to do it.”
He added, “It absolutely can work, but I guess what you can’t deny is Daredevil is never going to work as well in a PG world as Spider-Man does. Do you know what I mean? That’s the point. I think that the age of the character, the Christian guilt, his history with women and stuff, it’s like it’s a little bit more mature, it has to be.”
