Doctor Who is set to have a great year. Following the return of Russell T. Davies, responsible for the revival of the series in 2005, a new protagonist will arrive and also an incredible celebration for the 60 year anniversary of the franchise, which will serve as an introduction to the new Doctor from the star of Sex Education, Nguti Gatwa.
However, the main hero is not the only one who will change on the way to the new stage of the series. On the one hand, as usual, the new Doctor will also have a new companion. Recently, Millie Gibson (Coronation Street) joined the show as the protagonist’s ally in his adventures. But, in addition, the iconic Tardis will also undergo some modifications.

Speaking to Doctor Who Magazine, executive producer Joel Collins revealed some details of the new design for the Tardis, specially requested by Davies:
New stars such as Aneurin Barnard, Anita Dobson, and Michelle Greenidge will be making their way to the series. It was also revealed last month that Jemma Redgrave would be returning as the fan-favorite character and UNIT boss Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, daughter of the Brigadier.
“Once I’d put it in front of Russell, he’s just too visually bright to unsee it. I’d go, ‘Yes, yes, but it’s completely mad, it’s never going to happen.’ Then we started to say, ‘OK, how do we make this impossible space possible? Phil Sims, our production designer brought in a brilliant engineer, who spent months trying to solve the engineering riddle of this impossible, logic-defying set, which no one in their right mind should ever have even drawn in the first place. But that kind of sums up the show.”
What We Know About Doctor Who’s Anniversary Special
BBC
In November, a series of special episodes will celebrate 60 years of Doctor Who to welcome Nguti on his path as a central star.
As we saw in The Power of the Doctor, Jodie Whitaker’s farewell, the Master put the Doctor through a regeneration process to become him. Once reversed, Thirteen ends up mortally wounded. However, the instability after forced respawns causes Fourteen to look the same as Ten (David Tennant).
Along with Tennant, also returning is Catherine Tate as Donna Noble, Yasmin Finney as “other Rose,” Neil Patrick Harris as the villain, Jacqueline King as Sylvia, Karl Collins as Shaun, Ruth Madeley as Shirley Anne, Jemma Redgrave as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart and newcomer for franchise Aneurin Barnard as Roger ap Gwilliam.
