Dolph Lundgren has been quite busy of late and it doesn’t look like he is planning to take his foot off the pedal anytime soon. As well as upcoming roles in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and The Expendables 4, Lundgren is joining Legally Blonde and Zombieland: Double Tap star Luke Wilson in the new action flick The Best Man. Also starring Scout Taylor-Compton, Scott Martin, Brendan Fehr, and Nicky Whelan, the film will see Lundgren be reunited with Acceleration director Daniel Zirilli, and is scripted by C. Alec Rossel from Zirilli’s story. This news comes to us from THR.

While Lundgren is now in his 60s, the actor is putting out a huge number of movies from big-screen blockbusters to voice-overs and more low-key limited releases. This year will see him return to the Expendables franchise as well as providing the voice of Svengeance in Minions: The Rise of Gru – which has been delayed for two years thanks to the Covid pandemic – and as well as next year’s Aquaman sequel he will also release the documentary movie Dolph. The Best Man will be his third movie listed to release in 2023.

The plot of The Best Man revolves around a wedding on a remote resort that is invaded by a group of mercenaries, which leads to the main members of the wedding party to take on the terrorists to save a group of hostages. It essentially sounds like it plays to the same audience who have followed Lundgren through similar movies across his career, and in the end, that is what has brought people back to the star’s movies time and time again.

Dolph Lundgren Has His Part To Play In Two Big Movies in The Next Year

Dolph Lundgren is one of those stars that delivers exactly what audiences expect, which means plenty of explosions, gunfire, hostage negotiating, and a healthy dose of male testosterone. As well as appearing in a number of low-budget movies in this vein, Lundgren will be back playing Gunner Jensen in The Expendables 4 alongside Sylvester Stallone, and Jason Statham. Having been in production for eight years, fans of the action franchise had begun to wonder if they would ever get to see the movie due to the Covid pandemic. However, filming got underway in September last year, and while there is currently no release date set, The Expendables 4 is expected to arrive later in the year. Lundgren will also reprise the role of King Nereus in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which itself has seen a number of delays thanks to the Covid pandemic.

Late last year Lundgren also teased a new movie he was writing with Michael Worth called Wanted Man. According to Lundgren, the movie will see him playing an aging cop who must protect the eyewitness to a cartel shooting and get her safely across the border. Things become complicated when it is discovered that the attack was orchestrated by Americans, and he no longer knows who to trust. While there has been little information on the movie since, filming was expected to take place before this summer.
