The dragon riders aren’t done yet! Dragons: The Nine Realms will be returning for a fourth season, and from the looks of the recently released trailer, things are going from hot to cold! Check out the trailer below for a sneak peek of what’s to come.
Dragons: The Nine Realms is a continuation of Dreamwork’s legendary How to Train Your Dragon franchise, but in a very interesting twist. The show takes place in a secret government facility located next to a mysterious deep fault in the earth. We follow a group of kids who are brought to the facility. While their parents research the mysteries behind the fault, the kids befriend and hide a group of dragons that they meet and eventually befriend. The show stars Jeremy Shada (Adventure Time), Ashley Liao (Physical), Marcus Scribner (She-Ra and the Princesses of Power), Aimee Garcia (Lucifer), and Vincent Tong (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic).
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
Each season of Dragons: The Nine Realms focuses on a new chapter in the story of the dragon riders. Season one was about their discovery and spark of friendship with the dragons. Season two was about the group exploring further into the fissure (and ending on the discovery of an all new fire realm). Season three was about the group exploring the fire realm, and gaining a new ally along the way! From the looks of the trailer, the fourth season is more exploration of both realms and mysteries. Here is the official synopsis.
Return To The Dragon Realms
Dragons: The Nine Realms
Since its start, Dragons: The Nine Realms has been laying down the groundwork for a big connection between How to Train Your Dragon, particularly the main character Tom Kullerson. The series sets up that he and his mom are “descended from Vikings” and they carry a family heirloom in the form of an ancient viking helmet. It gets revealed that the helmet carries the night fury crest that a certain dragon rider carried! Season two ended with the group discovering a spear head with the same symbol. Meanwhile, season three ended with Tom finding the symbol again, only this time on a mysterious capsule. But what could it be?
The adventure continues as the Dragon Riders venture into the beautiful Ice Realm and discover a new world filled with unique dragons and dangers! Tom continues his search to learn more about Thunder’s family and Buzzsaw becomes even more of a problem having discovered an entrance to the Hidden World. Pushed to their limits, the Riders traverse blizzards, endure freezing temperatures and even face a snow volcano as the researchers at ICARIS come dangerously close to discovering the dragons the Riders are trying so hard to protect. Streaming Thursday, November 17 on Hulu!
Unfortunately, the capsule isn’t addressed in the teaser, but chances are unlocking it will be a focus for the group as they continue to trek the mysterious new ice world. Inside, several new dragon species are shown that fans have already been able to identify, such as the Terrible Terror, the Timberjack, and the Snow Wraith. Even more surprising is the appearance of a Night Light at the very end, which is the same species that Thunder is (and a descendant of Toothless and the Light Fury’s babies). Could this be a member of Thunder’s missing family? Like the capsule, the answer isn’t revealed. But the wait isn’t for very long to find out! Dragons: The Nine Realms Season 4 is expected to hit both Hulu and Peacock on November 17th.
