The dragons are back for a second round. Hulu has released on their official YouTube the trailer for the second season of Dreamworks’ Dragons: The Nine Realms. The sneak peek and synopsis can be viewed below.

Dragons: The Nine Realms is a sequel series to the critically acclaimed How to Train Your Dragon film trilogy. While How to Train Your Dragon followed the relationship between Vikings and dragons, The Nine Realms takes the franchise in an all-new direction. Taking place 1,300 years after the events of How to Train Your Dragon, a group of kids are brought to a mysterious fissure that sprouted up after a comet crashed into the earth. While the parents are trying to uncover the mysteries behind the fissure, the kids discover and befriend a group of dragons!

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

While season 1 was an introduction to the kids, Project ICARIS, and the new dragons; Season 2 seems to be diving deeper into certain mysteries! It’s pretty obvious that Thunder, the black and white dragon that carries Tom, is a descendant of Toothless. We also learn in the first season that Tom is of Viking heritage. Does this mean that their friendship is a bit more than a fun coincidence? In the trailer, we also get to see some very familiar-looking dragons, but only to those that watched the other How to Train Your Dragon shows such as Dragons: Riders of Berk, Dragons: Defenders of Berk, and Dragons: Race to the Edge. If the producers are willing to insert these sorts of clues, perhaps we’ll see a few more throwbacks to the characters we all fell in love within the original trilogy!
