Dune: Part Two Will Feature a Lot More from Zendaya
Warner Bros. Pictures
While the synopsis puts Paul and his messianic mission at its center, director Denis Villeneuve has revealed that Dune: Part Two will feature a much bigger role for Zendaya’s Fremen woman, Chani. “For Zendaya, I will say Part One was a promise,” the filmmaker said of Zendaya’s role in the sequel. “I know that we saw a glimpse of her in Part One, but in Part Two, she’ll have a prominent part. We will follow Timothée [Chalamet] and Zendaya on their adventures in the desert. That’s the thing that excited me most about going back to Arrakis is to spend time with those characters again.”
Villeneuve has even gone so far as to describe Chani as the protagonist of the story in Dune: Part Two saying, “I can’t wait to shoot the second part of Dune to get [Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya] back together. Knowing that in the next chapter Zendaya will be the protagonist of the story.”
After being delayed from an original release date of October 20, 2023, Dune: Part Two is now set to be released on November 17, 2023.
