Hollywood superstar Dwayne Johnson has big plans for Black Adam, calling his imminent DC debut Phase 1 of the DC Cinematic Universe. Responding to a review of Black Adam on social media, Johnson teased his intentions for the antihero, calling the long-awaited arrival of Black Adam “Exciting times for the brand to build up and build out.”

Black Adam will finally introduce audiences to the titular antihero. After nearly five thousand years of imprisonment, Black Adam, an antihero from the ancient city of Kahndaq, is unleashed into modern times. While the movie will act as an origin for Johnson’s character, it will also work to introduce further as-yet-unseen DC heroes, thus building up and building out. Black Adam’s brute tactics and way of justice attract the attention of the Justice Society of America, who try to stop his rampage, teach him how to be a hero more than a villain, and must team up to stop a force more powerful than Adam himself.
