Spoiler Alert: This story contains MAJOR SPOILERS for Black Adam

Hollywood superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has revealed that he is already working on “what’s next” for his DC antihero, Black Adam. Taking to social media, Johnson is clearly eager to continue the adventures of Black Adam, a character that has finally made his big screen debut some 15 years after he first signed on to play the role.

Johnson begins by thanking a fan for their glowing review of Black Adam, which introduces the character to the DC Cinematic Universe, before saying, “We’re working on “what’s next” as I type this. Exciting times. Stay tuned.”

Johnson has never been shy about his commitment to both Black Adam and the DC Cinematic Universe. “I am 100% committed to not only Black Adam but then expanding the Black Adam universe, the DC universe,” the actor said earlier this year. “This is the beginning, hopefully, fingers crossed, of a very long storytelling road that Black Adam is the anchoring jet fuel now that will then push and press this universe out.”

What exactly is next for Black Adam remains to be seen, but Johnson and the production team behind the DC outing have already offered several clues. Not only has Johnson himself described Black Adam as “phase 1 of storytelling in our DC Universe,” but he has also promised that audiences will be seeing a lot more from Pierce Brosnan’s Doctor Fate. A character who has already become a fan-favorite among Black Adam’s ensemble cast.

Black Adam Will Battle Superman on the Big Screen

The final moments of Black Adam see Henry Cavill once again suit up as the Man of Steel. Emerging from the smoke, Cavill’s Superman standing opposite Black Adam is expected to be just the start of these two facing-off on the big screen, with producer Hiram Garcia teasing an ongoing battle between the pair.

“It’s never been about a one-off or just about a fight,” Garcia revealed. “No, it’s about so much more than that. We really want to craft a long-form of storytelling and show that these two characters exist in the same universe and are going to have to deal with each other often, either on the same or opposite sides. Hopefully, they’re going to clash at some point, but it’s not just about a ‘one fight’ situation. That was never our dream. That does not reward the fans. Fans want to feel a journey between these guys knowing that these guys exist in the same universe.”

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and written by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani, Black Adam crashed into theaters on Friday. Introducing Dwayne Johnson as Teth-Adam, who is imprisoned for 5,000 years, he is chosen by the wizard Shazam and imbued with superpowers, emerging in the modern day as the lethal protector, Black Adam.

Starring Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell, Bodhi Sabongui, and Pierce Brosnan alongside Johnson, Black Adam has received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics. However, Black Adam has been a lot more popular with audiences and has so far grossed a worldwide total of $140 million at the box office.
