Dwayne Johnson is back on the set of the DC movie Black Adam for reshoots, as the actor revealed in a new Instagram post. Black Adam recently became one of the upcoming DCEU movies to be pushed back in the Warner Bros. release schedule, and now it seems there could be a good reason for that. Although reshoots are par for the course these days, having originally wrapped filming at the end of last summer, it was thought that Black Adam would have no problems hitting its original release slot of July 29, but with reshoots clearly ongoing, it looks like the drop back to October will just give a little more time to fine-tune the movie.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

Dwayne Johnson has always been very active on social media when it comes to sharing news of what he is currently up to, so the fact that he has posted a behind-the-scenes look at his return to the Black Adam set is probably not a huge surprise to anyone. In his post, he wrote:

“Great to be back on set of BLACK ADAM with our 750+ talented crew of filmmakers as we gear up to put some final details and last touches on our movie before we lock and deliver. I’m here with my Black Adam director, Jaume Collet-Serra (black shirt) and one of lead VFX editors, Krisztian Majdik as Jaume takes me thru some complex and intense shots we need to accomplish today. I’ve dialed in my diet and training intensity for weeks now to prepare, so I’m feeling good and in the zone. What a talented CREW! One dream. One Team. LFG.”

Black Adam Reshoots Should Not Be a Cause of Concern for Fans

As has been seen in recent months more than ever, reshoots have become the norm for some of the biggest blockbuster movies, and it isn’t always a bad thing. While at one time, the word “reshoot” was mostly associated with issues raised by preview audiences or big changes in the focus of a movie, these days, it is more about ensuring that all the shots sit just right and do the job they are meant to do. While some movies, such as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, have undergone reshoots to incorporate new characters, it is likely that Black Adam is simply doing a little bit of tidying up, having been initially shot in the middle of the Covid pandemic.

With a big action blockbuster like Black Adam, there are any number of shots recorded in principle photography that just don’t pop like they need to once the visual effects team goes to work on the footage, and from Johnson’s post, that is what these reshoots seem to be centered around. Clearly, Johnson is pretty happy to be back working with the Black Adam crew, and if it ensures that the movie hits the mark when it is finally released in October, then there is no doubt it will be worth the effort for all concerned.
