Dwayne Johnson knows how to promote his movies, and the actor has consistently teased an eventual meeting between his character, Black Adam, and Superman. Rumors began circulating last week surrounding Henry Cavill’s appearance in the latest DCEU movie, with Johnson throwing fuel to the fire numerous times, stressing that he is the most powerful being on “this” planet.

Now, during an interview with CinemaBlend, Johnson all but confirms his future matchup with the Man of Steel. Fans have been begging for another appearance from Cavill, as his character has been severely underutilized in the past few years. Johnson has repeatedly stated Black Adam would usher in a new era in the DCEU, along with altering the power hierarchy in the connected universe. But, of course, Superman would need to make at least one more appearance in order for that to be true, and it could happen in a future movie between the two stars. When Johnson is directly asked whether he plans to make a Black Adam vs. Superman movie, his response is encouraging to say the least.

Spoiler Alert: Potential Black Adam Post-Credit Spoilers Ahead

“Absolutely. That is the whole point of this man. Thank you for asking that. And I have been saying for some time, there’s a new era in the DC Universe that’s about to begin. And what I meant by that was introducing a brand new character. It’s not a sequel, not an existing IP. It was…you know, Black Adam! Two years ago the world had no idea who he was. We did, but not, you know, the rest of the mass out there. Introducing the JSA, introducing that new era of the DC universe. But also what I really meant by, ‘This is a new era in the DC Universe,’ is listening to the fans. Listening to the fans. And doing our best to give the fans what they want. And maybe, sometime down the road — and I went through this in pro wrestling — is you can’t always give them what you want. But you’ll always know that we’re listening. And in this case, with what you and I are talking about, I have been listening and I’ve been wanting to address fans for years. Because I’ve been waiting for someone to step up and address the fans and say, ‘Hey, we hear you.’ So finally, after many months turned into many years, we ended up with what we ended up at. And the whole goal and intention now is to this new era, new time. Now let’s build out.”

Earlier this week, details surrounding a Black Adam post-credit scene allegedly leaked online. Of course, these leaks should always be taken with a heavy dose of skepticism. According to @MyTimeToShineH on Twitter, Black Adam is told not to leave Khandaq by Amanda Waller, which will serve as his prison. In order to ensure his compliance, Superman will step into the frame, teasing what’s to come from the DCEU.

Of course, with the recent statements from Johnson, it certainly looks like these details could be true. Fans are hoping for a brief cameo from Cavill in Black Adam at the very least, and it appears everyone’s hopes are coming to fruition. Black Adam arrives in theaters later this month on Oct. 21.
