The first trailer for Pixar’s next outing, Elemental, welcomes you to Element City. Released courtesy of the official Pixar YouTube channel, Elemental will introduce audiences to the latest weird and wonderful Pixar world where the likes of fire, water, land, and air all live happily together. Check out the newly released trailer for Elemental below.
Elemental is an all-new, original feature film set in Element City, where fire, water, land and air residents live together. The story introduces Ember, a tough, quick-witted and fiery young woman whose friendship with a fun, sappy, go-with-the-flow guy named Wade challenges her beliefs about the world they live in.

Elemental will be led by Leah Lewis as Ember Lumen and Mamoudou Athie as Wade Ripple, with the characters embarking on an adventure that will no doubt have them both learn something, teach the audience something, and make the audience feel feelings all over again. A poster has also been released alongside the new footage, which gives us a better look at Ember and Wade. Based on the image, the dynamics of their relationship should be pretty clear.
Pixar/Disney
Lead actress Leah Lewis is best known for roles in the likes of the Netflix comedy-drama The Half of It, the television series Nancy Drew, the action drama series Station 19, and for voicing Batgirl in the animated outing Batwheels. Mamoudou Athie is best recognized for starring roles in Jurassic World: Dominion, The Circle alongside Tom Hanks and Emma Watson, and the sci-fi horror flick Underwater.
Elemental is Directed by Lightyear Star & The Good Dinosaur Director Peter Sohn
The wonderful world of Elemental is being brought to life by The Good Dinosaur director Peter Sohn. Most recently, Sohn stole the show in another Pixar outing, this year’s Lightyear, as the voice of SOX, Buzz’s trusted robot-feline companion.
Directed by Sohn and produced by Denise Ream, Elemental is scheduled to be released in theaters in the United States on June 16, 2023, by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is currently unknown whether Elemental will arrive in theaters, or whether it will be another straight-to-Disney+ release for the animation studio.
“My parents emigrated from Korea in the early 1970s and built a bustling grocery store in the Bronx,” Sohn said of the idea behind Elemental in a press statement when the Pixar project was first announced. “We were among many families who ventured to a new land with hopes and dreams – all of us mixing into one big salad bowl of cultures, languages and beautiful little neighborhoods. That’s what led me to Elemental. Our story is based on the classic elements—fire, water, land and air. Some elements mix with each other, and some don’t. What if these elements were alive?”
Elemental is just one of several exciting new movies coming up from Pixar. Elio, which follows an 11-year-old boy who finds himself transported across the galaxy and mistaken for the intergalactic ambassador of planet Earth is due for release on March 1, 2024. We are also getting a sequel to Inside Out, which is scheduled to be theatrically released on June 14, 2024.
