With both Daniel Radcliffe and Elijah Wood on board with the idea, the potential film featuring the two actors playing each other needs to happen soon. Previously, Radcliffe named Wood as the obvious choice of an actor that could play him if he was ever given a biopic. He imagines a movie where the two “would trade off,” given how often some fans confuse Radcliffe and Wood.

Recently, TMZ caught up with Wood and asked him about Radcliffe’s comments. It’s clear that Wood would also be happy to do such a film where in he’s played by Radcliffe while he portrays the Harry Potter star. Here’s what Wood said when asked if he’d be up for switching places with Radcliffe in a movie.

Radcliffe has stated before that he’s sometimes mistaken for Wood, and he finds himself going along with it so as not to ruin the experience for the fan. Wood says he’s also been confused for Radcliffe “many, many times,” but he doesn’t play into that the same way, saying he’s never signed Radcliffe’s name. In any case, Wood reiterates that he’d love to do the hypothetical movie, mostly just to get the chance to co-star with Radcliffe in a film. As he said when again asked:

“Amazing. The old switcheroo? Sure. Daniel’s the best.”

“Sure! I would just love to work with him. He’s just a lovely human being.”

Daniel Radcliffe: Biopic Star

     The Roku Channel

These questions have come up lately due to Radcliffe’s involvement in a new biopic. He plays legendary parodist “Weird Al” Yankovic in the new Roku movie WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story, which has been a big hit with viewers. The concept of bizarre biopics such as this one led to discussions about seeing Wood play Radcliffe in a biopic as it only seems natural, given the fan confusion.

“I have on multiple occasions been applauded for my bravery on stage in Equus,” Wood told Radcliffe in a joint interview, via MuggleNet. “Once I was in an elevator in Vancouver and it was just me and this other person, and I could feel them looking at me intently. Just before the doors opened into the lobby, he finally got up the courage, pointed at me and said, ‘Harry Potter!’ I said, ‘No!’ and I walked away.”

In the same interview, Radcliffe also described an experience of doing press on a red carpet in Japan. He was given a photograph of Wood from an autograph seeker, and Radcliffe found that it was easier to pretend at the moment, though he was honest with his autograph.

“The quickest way to deal with it was just to write, ‘I am not Elijah Wood, [signed] Daniel Radcliffe,’ and then hope somebody translated that for him later,” the WEIRD star said.
