It was reported on Friday that the United States Supreme Court overturned the landmark Roe v. Wade decision, and this news was met with widespread and instant backlash all throughout social media. What this means is that the constitutional right to abortion now no longer exists, a move that critics say violates women by having the government dictate what happens with their bodies. Among those speaking out have been many celebrities, and this includes the Mistress of the Dark herself, Cassandra “Elvira” Peterson.
“I’M MAD AS HELL!!! Today, a group of thieves called the US Supreme Court, stripped women of their fundamental constitutional rights,” Peterson tweeted along with an image of Elvira looking angry. “We must ALL stand up and say NO! Women are NOT, and WILL NOT be, 2nd class citizens in our own country!”

Elsewhere, among those reacting online has been West Side Story star and history-making Academy Award winner Ariana DeBose. In a tweet, DeBose criticized the decision and said that it’s not up to the Supreme Court to determine what happens with her body, nor should they determine who she gets to fall in love with.
“Yeah, ain’t NOBODY telling me what I can & can’t do with my body,” DeBose said. “Ain’t nobody telling me who I get to love or marry for that matter. America… you’re in for the fight of your life.”
Danny DeVito was a bit blunt with his reaction, which read, “Supreme Court my ass.”
Better Call Saul star Patrick Fabian tweeted, “Other than Insurrection, Voter Suppression & Forced Birth…seems like having the host of Celebrity Apprentice as President worked out really well for the U.S.A.”
“I’m past disgusted w/ my country and their constant inability to protect one another’s right & keep their word,” tweeted Keke Palmer. “How u overturning the wrong things? So many things to overturn that make sense. But this is what you chose??”
Barack Obama Has Weighed In

A former president of the United States has also expressed his disappointment in the Supreme Court’s decision. Barack Obama, who has since been developing content for Netflix with wife Michelle Obama, posted a passionate statement online.
“Today, the Supreme Court not only reversed nearly 50 years of precedent, it relegated the most intensely personal decision someone can make to the whims of politicians and ideologues—attacking the essential freedoms of millions of Americans,” he wrote. “Across the country, states have already passed bills restricting choice. If you’re looking for ways to respond, (Planned Parenthood), (United States of Women), and many other groups have been sounding the alarm on this issue for years—and will continue to be on the front lines of this fight.”
Obama added, “For more than a month, we’ve known this day was coming—but that doesn’t make it any less devastating.”
