The world of Game of Thrones will be expanded upon with spinoff shows that are currently in the works at HBO. This summer will see the premiere of House of the Dragon, the first of many planned prequel shows that are a part of the popular fantasy franchise. Meanwhile, it was recently reported that a sequel series is also in early development with Kit Harington set to return as Jon Snow.
The Jon Snow series, currently dubbed Snow, opens the door for other characters from Game of Thrones to potentially return. While the story of Daenerys Targaryen came to an end with the character’s demise in Game of Thrones, it’s still seemingly possible she could appear in a flashback sequence, or even be resurrected - considering that’s already happened with a dead Jon Snow. Perhaps Emilia Clarke could even theoretically get her own spinoff series set in the time before the character’s death?

Don’t count on any of this happening. In a new BBC interview, Clarke was asked about the possibility of reprising her role as Daenerys Targaryen in a Game of Thrones spinoff. Putting it bluntly, the actress offered this response:
Previously, Clarke had confirmed the spinoff was in development after the reports of the Jon Snow series had been reported on. She also stated that the series comes from a concept from Harington.
The Jon Snow Series Could Bring Back Other Fan Favorites
Emilia Clarke might have closed the door on a Game of Thrones return, but there are others from the series who haven’t written off an appearance in Snow. Brienne of Tarth actress Gwendoline Christie has said she would “relish” reprising her popular role. Maisie Williams, who played Arya Stark in the original series, has teased that she just might return if the situation is right, though she also suggested she wasn’t quite ready for that just yet. She told People:
Officially, Snow hasn’t been greenlit at HBO, but given the fan interest in the series, it seems likely to happen. In the meantime, fans can check out the prequel series House of the Dragon when it comes to HBO and HBO Max on Aug. 21, 2022.
