Looks like Emilia Clarke is all geared up for the upcoming Disney+ series, Secret Invasion, and is already going full throttle with its production. In a new video from the sets of the miniseries, Emilia Clarke can be seen pinned to the ground with a man grabbing her neck. The sequence seems to be part of a larger action sequence in the film, which will probably put Clarke’s character in a life-threatening situation. Another interesting fact about the video is that the other person fighting off Clarke is donning the motion-capture suit, that is meant for digitally creating CGI characters and their complex movements. It’s possible that this character would be infiltrating Skrull on the planet.
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
Emilia Clarke is the fourth actor from the HBO hit Game of Thrones to be roped into the MCU. Earlier, Richard Madden and Kit Harrington appeared as Ikaris and Dane Whitman respectively in Eternals, whereas Peter Dinklage portrayed Eitri in Avengers: Infinity War. Confirming her casting back in June 2021, Clarke said,
I just think what they’re doing right now is so exciting and so cool, and so on the cutting edge of it. I feel like they’re like the Apple of this world. To be part of that family feels like, ‘Oh my god, I’m in the cool kid crowd. That’s so cool.’ Honestly speaking, the people that are making this are what pushed me over the line to really wanting to do it. I just think that everyone’s heart and heads are in the right place with this one.
Who’s Emilia Clarke Playing in Secret Invasion?
Secret Invasion is an adaptation of Marvel’s comic series of the same name. The Disney+ show will be set in the post- Avengers: Endgame era of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s shared continuity. In Secret Invasion, a huge sect of Skrulls, a race of shape-shifting aliens has infiltrated all aspects of life on Earth, including high levels of governments and administrations.
Up until now, we know that Samuel L. Johnson will reprise his role as Nick Fury alongside Ben Mendelsohn reprise his role of Talos. In Captain Marvel, we found out that Nick has been working with a particular sect of Skrulls forever and that Talos, for years, has posed as Fury on Earth while the former took control of some serious space operations. What’d be interesting to see is what sect of Skrulls is fighting against Earth as Captain Marvel established the shape-shifting aliens weren’t really the bad guys.
As for Emilia Clarke’s role in the show, it’s unclear what character from the Marvel Comics lore she’d be essaying. A lot of speculations suggest she’ll be playing Abigail Brand, a commander of the organization S.W.O.R.D., which was first introduced in WandaVision.
Besides Emilia Clarke, the show will also star Cobie Smulders, Olivia Colman, Kingsley ben-Adir, Killian Scott, Christopher McDonald, and Carmen Ejogo. Though it sums up to a pretty well-rounded cast, Marvel boss Kevin Feige has stated that the show will be “a showcase for Jackson and Mendelsohn.”
The show might have connections to the Doctor Strange sequel if the film actually introduces the Illuminati, the group which was an integral part of the Secret Invasion comic book storyline.
Secret Invasion, directed by Ali Selim and Thomas Bezucha, will comprise six episodes and will premiere on Disney+ as a weekly show in late 2022. Secret Invasion would be part of Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
