Emily Blunt has proved time and time again that she can completely transform into any role that she takes on. Blunt plays Sergeant Rita Vrataski, who is a fierce and talented soldier who teaches Cruise’s character how to defeat the alien race. Blunt gives a solid and passionate performance as a skilled soldier determined to save humanity. At the same time, her chemistry with Cruise was top-notch.

6 Your Sister’s Sister

Your Sister’s Sister was written and directed by Lynn Shelton and features an endearing story with memorable characters. The film follows Jack (Mark Duplass) whose best friend (Blunt) instructs him to go to her family’s cabin to find peace after dealing with the death of his brother. Along the way, a love triangle is created between the characters played by Blunt, Duplass, and Rosemarie DeWitt. Blunt gives a fantastic performance as a woman who begins to fall in love with her best friend. Her character is honest, endearing, and has great chemistry with Duplass.
5 The Girl On The Train

Blunt gives a stellar performance in The Girl on the Train as an alcoholic who is wrapped up into a missing person investigation. Blunt totally encapsulates the persona of an alcoholic, and she delivers a deep character with many layers. She portrays a damaged person with several emotional issues. Although the film received mixed reviews, per Rotten Tomatoes, Blunt’s performance received critical acclaim across the board.
4 The Young Victoria

Acclaimed filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallée directed The Young Victoria, following the life of Queen Victoria (Blunt). The focus of the film is centered on the relationship between Queen Victoria and Prince Albert (Rupert Friend). It is no easy task for an actor to portray a character from a different century, but Blunt does it with ease. She completely transforms into Queen Victoria and delivered one of the best performances of her career.
3 Sunshine Cleaning

In Sunshine Cleaning, Blunt plays a character who is struggling with both life and addiction. At the same time, her sister, played by Amy Adams, keeps her afloat by starting their own crime scene cleanup business. Blunt gives an honest, and sometimes heartbreaking, performance from beginning to end. She totally captures a character who yearns for something more than she has, and her chemistry with Adams is top-notch.
2 Sicario

Emily Blunt gives a highly emotional performance in Denis Villeneuve’s Sicario. She plays a determined FBI Special Agent who is assigned to a controversial task of finding the whereabouts of a drug kingpin. Blunt is flawless from beginning to end of the film and perfectly shows the emotion of an agent who is very conflicted on the task that she is carrying out. Blunt gives one her finest performances in Sicario. Though she didn’t return for the sequel, Sicario 2: Day of the Soldado, Sicario 3 producer Trent Luckinbill said to IndieWire that it would “make a lot of sense” for her to return in the upcoming sequel.

Blunt deservingly earned a Screen Actors Guild Award for her performance in A Quiet Place. One of the most brilliant aspects of her performance is that she was able to convey so much emotion in a film with little dialogue. She conveys the emotion of a mother desperate to protect her family, and she is fierce from beginning to end. She has fantastic chemistry with John Krasinski (her real-life husband and director on this movie) and the rest of the cast, and she completely carries the sequel, A Quiet Place Part II.
