In part due to his role in Emily in Paris, actor Lucien Laviscount is reportedly up for the role of James Bond. In 2021, Daniel Craig wrapped up his run in the role with No Time to Die serving as his swan song. But the continued popularity of the franchise means that the show must go on, and it’s just a matter of time before casting gets underway for Bond 26. A variety of names have been getting churned through the rumor mill since Craig’s exit, and Laviscount has just become the latest actor to join that list.

The Daily Mail reports that Laviscount landed on the radar of Bond producer Barbara Broccoli because of his role in the hit Netflix series Emily in Paris as Alfie, the love interest of Lily collins’ Emily Cooper. At 30 years old, he is also said to be of the ideal age to cast the next incarnation of the suave secret agent, as Broccoli reportedly wants to go with an actor who could potentially stick around in the role for the next 15 years. According to the report, another factor that may play into Laviscount’s casting is that the Bond filmmakers are leaning toward going with an ethnic-minority star to better reflect modern society.

According to an unnamed source, “Lucien ticks all of the boxes. He is a super talented actor, is extremely handsome, and in the past 18 months has won lots of new fans since he joined Emily in Paris. Bond bosses are already saying how you can see him in the 007 tuxedo, how dapper and fitting to the role he will look.”

Laviscount may be best known for his role in Emily in Paris, though he also had notable roles in the TV shows Scream Queens, Snatch, and Katy Keene. He has also appeared in various films like One Night in Istanbul, The Bye Bye Man, and Love Beats Rhymes. More recently, he appeared in the film Your Christmas or Mine?, a Prime Video rom-com that stars Asa Butterfield and Cora Kirk.

As none of this information about Laviscount and James Bond has been confirmed, it’s best to treat it as a rumor at this time, same as we would with all of the other names who’ve been rumored for the part. We’ll likely continue to hear other rumors until an official announcement is made by the producers. Since Daniel Craig’s exit from the role, a variety of names have come up, including Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, Rege-Jean Page, Tom Hiddleston, Henry Cavill, and Dan Stevens.

Bond 26 doesn’t have a release date at this time, but if the rumors are true and casting is now underway, production could be in the near future on the next installment of the franchise.
