Netflix’s Emily in Paris is the perfect series for those looking for a light-hearted show to help them escape the stresses of everyday life. The romantic comedy TV series follows Emily Cooper, an aspiring marketing executive portrayed by Lily Collins, as she moves to Paris. As the show progresses, the audience witnesses Emily struggling to find her footing in the workplace, while also navigating through her love life and a new cultural setting. It also depicts the lives of multiple characters and their slice of the drama. As with many other TV shows, Emily in Paris also has its share of ups and downs. It’s definitely not flawless, but the show is enjoyable nonetheless. Here are some of the best episodes from Emily in Paris, ranked:

6 Emily In Paris (Episode 1)
Netflix
The very first episode of the series finds Emily still in Chicago, Illinois, where she works as the right-hand woman to Madeline Wheeler. The show wastes little time unraveling the story as just a few minutes into the episode a big project whisks Emily off to Paris. However, things aren’t smooth sailing for Emily once she lands in Paris, especially considering she cannot speak or understand French. Not only does this make it difficult for her to navigate through her new surroundings, but it also does not leave a positive impression on her in her new workplace, especially towards her superior, Sylvie. The language barrier along with her unfamiliarity with French culture, often leads to quite a few comical situations. As far as the first episodes go, Emily in Paris does well to set the tone for the upcoming episodes while also familiarizing the audience with the titular character.

5 Sexy Or Sexist (Episode 3)
The momentum of the series really starts to build with the third episode, Sexy or Sexist. The episode starts with Emily reiterating to Madeline on the phone that she’s single again as she ends things with Doug. To add to her boyfriend troubles, Emily also does not seem to have made much progress with her workplace relationships either. Perhaps, the highlight of the episode is Antione’s photoshoot, which involves a Serbian woman walking naked up a bridge while men watch, mesmerized by her beauty. Emily argues with Antione that the concept is sexist and is only feeding into the male gaze as the woman is objectified. Antione, on the other hand, argues that it’s empowering.
The actual advertisement also shows the woman turning into a dove, which symbolizes love, peace, and freedom. Emily eventually does give in and agrees with Antione that it’s a matter of perspective and how the advertisement is read by the viewer. The episode’s take on female objectification and sexism in the media is definitely an interesting one.
4 French Ending (Episode 7)
If the audience thought things were messy in the initial episodes, things get really, really chaotic in episode seven, “French Ending”. The stakes rise quite high for Emily, both in terms of her love life and her work life. The episode finds Emily looking after (read: babysitting) American actress Brooklyn Clark, who’s not only eccentric but also quite a handful. The situation with Brooklyn definitely leads to quite a few comedic moments in the episode.
The tension between Emily and Gabriel also rises quite high in the episode, as the latter reveals he’s selling his restaurant as he can no longer afford to keep it afloat. Perhaps, the best moment of the entire episode is when Emily finally confronts Gabriel about her feelings for him. She directly tells him that she wants all of him or nothing. Emily walks away before Gabriel responds, but the audience can’t help but grip tightly onto their chairs as they wonder how Gabriel will eventually respond to Emily’s confession.
3 Family Affair (Episode 8)
“Family Affair” is definitely one of the funnier episodes in the series. Episode eight finds Emily, Gabriel, and Camille as the trio sets off on a trip to meet Camille’s family. The episode is particularly refreshing as it takes the titular character into a different setting than usual. Though the trip is a bit awkward considering that the sexual tension between Gabriel and Emily is high, while Camille seems unaware. Things between Gabriel and Camille are also rough as Emily overhears the two fighting. To make matters even more awkward, Emily ends up sleeping with one of Camille’s much younger brothers. And everyone in the house seems aware of it. Talk about embarrassing!
2 A Kiss Is Just A Kiss (Episode 4)
“A Kiss is Just a Kiss” is special for two main reasons. First, the audience, along with Emily, finally meets up with Camille, portrayed by Camile Razat, who ends up becoming Emily’s closest friend in Paris. The two meet when Emily is struggling to communicate with a flower vendor. Camille steps in and helps Emily by communicating to the vendor what types of flowers Emily wants. The two are quick to click after the initial interactions.
Secondly, episode four brings in the first plot twists of the series. By this episode, it’s becoming increasingly clear that Emily might feel something for her handsome neighbor, Gabriel, portrayed by Lucas Bravo. He’s helped out on various occasions, including this episode where he helps her get a last minute reservation at his restaurant to help with a dinner meeting for work. The plot twist arrives near the end of the episode when she kisses him as a thanks. Only to discover minutes later that he’s in a relationship with none other than Camille. Talk about an unexpected twist of events!
1 Cancel Couture (Episode 10)
The season one finale, “Cancel Conture”, brings things to quite a dramatic conclusion. Just when it seems that all hope is lost and Emily’s endeavors in Paris are a failure, things take a turn for the better. Pierre Cadeau cancels his fashion show, only to create an entire line inspired by Emily! Imagine having such an impact on someone that they’re inspired to design a whole line. The episode does give the audience a little twist when it’s revealed that Gabriel reveals that he’s found an affordable restaurant in Normandy and is moving. Even though Emily and Gabriel do end up together, they end up agreeing to go their separate ways. However, Emily wakes up the next day to find out that Antione invested in Gabriel’s restaurant, and he’s decided to stay after all! Talk about a happy ending for the cute couple.
