50 Cent and Eminem are teaming up to produce a series based on the smash hit movie 8 Mile. The autobiographical film, which starred Eminem in the lead role, depicted his rise to fame as a Detroit rapper. Now, 50 Cent is bringing his considerable television experience to the project; he’s worked behind the scenes on Starz’s hit show Power. It’s unclear who will be cast in the series or what direction it will take, but fans of Eminem and 50 Cent can expect something special from this collaboration.
The show, described as “big” by 50 Cent in an interview with Big Boy TV, is set to be along the lines of the recent Peacock series Bel-Air, a reboot of the Will Smith-led series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. According to 50 Cent, the idea to turn 8 Mile into a show was his own, and he didn’t need much convincing to get Eminem on board. 50 Cent revealed the project would be a modern version of the film, and the series will also provide a more detailed look into the rapper’s unique life. The modern take on 8 Mile should offer fans an inside look into the real-life struggles Eminem has faced throughout his career and how he overcame them through determination and hard work.
